| 6/7/2012 | student | Williamstown high school is terrible and people are very rude especially the teachers and principals. My mother and her siblings went to school there when the high school was located at the middle school and things have not changed. Most students including myself who is for the the most part a very reserved person is afraid to make a move in fears of getting a 3-7 or embarrassed by a teacher. Instead of focusing on positive things like educating us they focus on popularity with athletes and racism. I hear the word respect being thrown around a lot but i was told as a child i don't deserve respect but as a human being everyone deserves respect.I can only recommend one class which is JROTC because the instructors are kind, hardworking, and actually care about your child and their well being.Otherwise I do not recommend this school to anyone. |
| 5/9/2012 | parent | Both my children graduated from Williamstown High School and We had a great experience with the school and the teachers. |
| 8/4/2011 | parent | All I kept hearing was how different the high school was from the middle school. How it was going to be a different experience this time. My son was a freshman this year and quite frankly, it was a worse experience than the middle school. My son was accused of not handing in homework, which he did and he got a "0". Well she miraculously found the homework in a pile. That was in the beginning of the year and it only went downhill. He was failing a subject and I was never notified. I was told that I need to check powerschool to see his grades. When I asked if powerschool negates the teacher responsibility for teachers to notify parents of students progress, I got no response. I emailed the principal and when he never responded, I emailed him back & he said he didn't realize I wanted a response and had an attitude with me. The teachers have attitudes toward you as a parent when you question them. Forget a teacher getting back to you, that's a joke, just like this school. It's a nightmare and I have 3 more years left with him and a daughter yet to go there. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. |
| 6/16/2011 | parent | As a concerned parent of a senior at WHS I can tell you that all students are not treated the same at this school. The ethnicity of the student plays a huge role in the outcome of the problem situation;whether its academic or discplinary in nature. So thank you! Mrs.English teacher ,Mr.Dept head, Mr Principal and Mr.Administration for continuing the traditon of holding our students back. |
| 6/1/2011 | parent | Aweful school! If I could get my kids out of there I would in a second! The kids get harshly disiplined for the dumbest things. Cant wait until my kids graduate and are out of there for good. |
| 5/15/2011 | parent | Think twice before sending your child to this school. Administration has a terrible attitude. Beware, your A student could become a C student in a semester. The good teachers are really good and the bad ones are really bad! beware |
| 4/22/2010 | parent | Both my sons go to WHS and although they like it, Its very tough to deal with the god complexes that most of the Cp teachers have..The teachers seem more concerned with there benny's and pay than there level of teaching.. I mean It must be tough to work a 7hr day average 9.5 months out of the year.... |
| 3/24/2010 | parent | Williamstown High School was a great school to go to at one time. Notice I said one time. This school has dropped academic requirements to remain on sports teams. The excuse? They would rather see a child come to school and play for their football team which is one of the best in all of NJ,than to quit school all together. I say let them quit. Some of the teachers are bigger bullies than the students and my child is reminded on a daily basis that the teachers do not have a contract. One teacher went as far as to say that they would get a better education if the teachers had a contract. These teachers claim to be in this for the students but are now refusing to chaparone the prom. I could go on. My son is an A-B students in honors class and wants to quit! |
| 3/9/2010 | parent | This school is the worst starting with administration and the teachers. Their only focus is state testing and their contracts. Students are not learning properly because the teachers are only there to collect a pay check. Many of them have said that throughout the years my child has been in this district. Administration and teachers get upset when parents contact them with concenrs about their childs progress. If a child has ADHD forget it, they are not willing to help them remember things they need to do. You can not expect a child with that condition to be 100% responsible and the teachers should be more sensative to their needs and be willing to help their students a little bit more. Also the discipline is outrageous. They would rather give a child a 3-7 and have them miss class time so they get so far behind they cant catch up. |
| 2/22/2010 | student | The school is great although some of the other reviews make me angry; the dicipline is strict but fair and it is easy to avoid getting in trouble I've gone 4 years without even a trip to the VP office, some of the reviews are saying teachers arnt dedicated or are even racist but these simply arnt true, these are just scapegoats for their childrens failure due to not working hard enough; the school is very large (about 2000 students) but very hard to get lost in, we have a new prinipal this year in Mr. Deal who is just as great as Mr. Stumpo was, the honors programs are great, compleate with academys for people wanting to learn specific fields such as buisness or engineering, another great thing would be the cultural diversity and beautiful building, I would reccomend to almost |
| 9/22/2009 | parent | Do not send your child here if you are looking for a first class education. They talk a good game but, the SAT scores tell the truth. |
| 9/21/2008 | student | I am a former student at this school and there is alot offered for the students and they really work hard to help the students. |
| 7/17/2008 | parent | I have two children in the school system. One of them has a ADHD. The guidance counselor and teachers are all very receptive to weekly communication from me. The teachers reply to emails promptly and work with my daughter to give her the best possible chance for success. They all care because they know that if she succeeds, so do they. We consider the student expectations for academics and behavior to be high but certainly achievable. My kids feel secure and safe there. They have extracurricular activities to suit any student interest. I can't say enough positive things about all of the staff. I'm glad and proud to be in the williamstown school district. |
| 4/2/2006 | former student | Williamstown High, is a huge school. The recent additions have only added to its existing beauty. Complete with an Army of teachers ready to help your child achieve real results that lead to college. |
| 2/1/2006 | parent | Wonderful school, hope you like it, subject outstanding, sports great. |
| 11/16/2005 | parent | Please ask many questions and do some serious investigating before enrolling your student in the Middle School or High School in this district. The elementry schools are wonderful but the Middle and High schools are a whole different ball game. There is not enough money in the budget for things like BOOKS. Yes, don't expect that your student will receive one for every class because they won't. Please ask about this. Also, much time is spent on discipline and students are kept out of school during the day and sent to a 3-7 school after one detention. If your child had any type of disipline that required detention in the past be prepared that he or she will miss ALOT of classroom instruction. |
| 7/19/2005 | parent | Slightly better than the Middle School but not much. Administration is rude and not very helpful. They get aggrevated when they are contacted too often by the parent instead of being thrilled with parental involvement. Way too many suspensions for trivial incidents. The children need to be in the classroom receiving the instruction not in a detention setting such as 3-7 school. The teachers should be made to take control of the situation instead of sending students to the office at the drop of a dime. There are not enough books for each student. I was told that this is because the budget hasn't been approved in years. Books must remain in the classrooms and are shared. If your student needs help at home you better know the material because there won't be a book to reference. Beautiful building, great sports teams. |
| 12/7/2004 | parent | I think this school is awesome! The administration desires a positive learning environment seriously, and so they enforce the rules. This sends a clear message to students, and it has created a learning atmosphere that encourages teachers to teach! I think the administration is serious about its job. Three fairly new assistant principals, all men, and they treat the students with kindness and respect. Sports teams are very competetive. Principal is superb! I am certainly glad my children are going to this school! Best kept secret in South Jersey. |
| 8/24/2004 | parent | Very kind spoken principal. However, some vice principals are not very helpful. Bad Administration(can be very abusive verbally to students). Very strict rules and discipline. 4 minutes to get from one class to another.3 lateness to school=detention. The same for class lateness. Miss One detention equals a suspension out of scchool.Excellent counselor department. Suspension and detention for silly junk. Most teachers are not very helpful if you have a child that needs after school help with school work. Semi prejudice (most minority students not treated equally) To few dedicated teachers.Beautiful School building. Parents responsible for getting students in the middle and high school to and from school if living within 2-2 1/2 miles of school. |
| 6/17/2004 | student | Its a nice looking school, bad administration, strict rules as far as dress code and food ... no tanktops / open beverages. Serious punishment for small things ... 3 lates = a detantion, missing a detention = a suspension. |
