| 10/31/2011 | other | My rating is outdated, as I attended Wherry in 1997-1999. My most outstanding memory was of a teacher named Sarah Silverstein (if I recall correctly) who taught my first grade class. It was my first year in the country and I didn't speak much English, but she made sure I was right along with the rest of the class and in no time I was fluent. She's one of my very first memories of becoming an American, and I will always be thankful for her help. It is solely because of her that I give this school such a high rating, because without her I don't know where I'd be. Thank you for never giving up on me and helping me live up to my fullest potential! -Sara |
| 9/10/2011 | parent | Thier special needs program is excellent! Their teachers are careing to the childs needs and very accomidating. |
| 9/14/2010 | teacher | It was interesting to read the previous ratings. As a staff member I have to (sadly) agree. The principal has low expectations and sighs continuously. There are a few excellent teachers but not near enough to serve these students. The one positive thing I have to say is the students are eager to learn and have so much potential. I hope one day the district sees that weak leadership is holding this school back. |
| 12/17/2006 | teacher | Every experience I have had with Wherry has been fresh and exciting. The teachers are hard working and dedicated and I am commited to giving my very best while teaching there. |
| 2/10/2006 | parent | I 'was' interested in my son attending a school closer to home, but not after meeting the staff. The principal sighed when i asked to visit the classrooms and teachers after school. I felt like i was bother by asking a question about classes offered for speech therapy. When i got permission to show my son around. I saw about 3 policemen in the office which made me uncomfortable, as i walked through dim lit halls to meet with a teacher my son tried to hug her, she resisted my 5 yr. Old and his warm greeting by holding his shoulders back & said 'wait 'til you get to know me first, then we can hug.' I don't think that a 'teacher' should give off such a negative impression. I think that was very rude of her. First impressions mean everything. My son will never attend this school. |
| 12/8/2005 | parent | Principal is biased and inexperienced. This Principal lacks leadership skills and abilities. I am concerned for the safety and well being of all students. Educational Standards were lowered to accomodate a small percentage of the community. |
| 11/20/2005 | parent | Lots of problems with behavior, principal not interested in making any changes. |
