| 5/3/2011 | parent | Merton Williams has far exceeded our expectations! The Hilton Central School District is the best kept secret on this side of town. We have two children, one at Northwood Elementary and one at Merton Williams. We know first-hand that the education they are receiving is top-notch. |
| 4/6/2010 | parent | I have a 7th grader in Merton Williams and a 4th grader in Northwood. I feel both schools go above and beyond to make sure that the children learn everything they can includung 'outside the box'. In fact I feel they may go overboard with certain students and parents who think they should be treated to special and disrupt everyone else. They instill life lessons in thess children that some parents can not do. There is a world out there beyond these school borders and these children are being well prepared to face it. Information ,different types of teachers , being allowed to say what they think and working on solutions. I wish I had one more to send to this district. |
| 2/6/2009 | parent | I was saddened by reading the negative comments on here. I have a child in mainstreamed special ed in this school. Hh is in 8th grade. Through all the ups and downs this school has been great. Yes, there have been some hiccups along the way but the school was willing, and plenty able, to rectify any problems we encountered. Bullying is not permitted and the teachers are actively involved in making sure it is not tolerated either. The teachers are wonderful and take an active role in their students. They make school interesting and are very helpful when a students does not understand something. The principal and her staff have been great to my son and to myself. As a parent you really need to be involved with your child's education. This school makes that possible. I highly recommend this school. |

| 6/14/2007 | parent | Merton Williams is far from being on the cutting edge of anything. The classes are geared for teaching the average child - there is basically no differentiation in teaching. They have no idea how to teach to children who think out of box. They have children take fun quizes to discover what learning style works best for them and the school does nothing with the information. MW is extremely slow with making any educational improvements. The leadership basically talks a lot about how little Johnny can learn better if he does not have to worry about Billy making fun of him or hitting him. MW seems to think that verbally promoting safety is all they need to do. After switching to a great private school we can see how lacking Merton Williams is. |
| 6/9/2007 | other | Merton Williams is an excellent school and should be considered # 1 |
| 8/25/2003 | parent | Merton Williams is a fine Middle School. The staff is wonderful and caring. If a child does poorly in this school, it is not the school's fault. We, as parents, must be participants in our children's education. Their first school is at home. The things/values we teach our children at home will make or break our children's learning experience. The teacher's can only enhance the good that is already there. If anyone is unhappy with Merton Williams Middle School, it is because they are expecting to be served instead of serving with everyone. My daughter is a Merton Williams 8th grade student 2003-2004, and we have been fortunate to be blessed with excellent teachers. Each teacher has inspired my daughter to be the best she can be. We especially love Mr. Vidas and Ms. Sagrue. That's probably because we do not know everyone! I am certain that only the finest teachers are in the Hilton School District. We love you, Merton Williams Middle School and we thank God for teachers and staff, such as you. God bless you all. |
| 6/14/2003 | | Leadership is very poor at this school , they never follow through. They have no idea of how the school business is run. Teachers have no control over their classes and there is little to no security at the school at all. The teachers are not proactive and we get the feeling that they are there for the pay check only. |
