| 3/4/2012 | other | I've been to St. Nick's for my whole life and graduated about two years ago. I cannot ask for anything better for my childhood life! This school was and always will be my second home. Everyone respected everyone's decisions and religions. It wasn't as if people would just talk to you for one day and forget your name the next. It was as if we were family and the pre-k kids would look up to kindergarteners who looked up to 1st graders -so on and so forth- but everyone looked up to the teachers and school workers. For one thing, all the teachers take education seriously, but they make it interesting and fun as well. From making interactive book reports to science fairs and fun, intense spelling bees are some ways they show us schoolwork is fun. Another example of how SNT thinks highly of our education is this paragraph. Do you see any mistakes here? I think not. Thanks to the wonderful teachers who had taught me. I DON'T know why other people say otherwise. If you haven't experienced this school and its education, you're honestly missing out on something amazing. Bring your children here, it's worth your money and their education! |
| 11/8/2011 | parent | I hate to say this but I had both my boys in this school a few years ago. One graduated after entering in 6th grade and the other we took out right after. This school is very deceiving. Plagued by many financial problems and inability to keep the kids warm in the winter (broken boiler). Many teachers who have been there for a while are so bitter and jaded they should have retired years ago. If your thinking about this school for your kids...DON"T. This office staff is shockingly RUDE and just don't care. Not the best example of a Christian education. You can do better. |
| 6/3/2011 | other | THIS SCHOOL IS AMAZING! I transferred into St. Nick's 6th grade, and I was the quiet, shy new kid. My teacher was amazingly nice to me, and helped with my transition into SNT. All of the teachers are so nice and caring, and they're always there to help the students. I was on two sports teams and the coaches were amazingly good and also very caring. Also, all of the students are SO nice and friendly! From being the shy new kid, thanks to SNT I became friendly and extroverted. If it wasn't for this school I don't think i would be where I am now. From my experience I would say that this school is the most amazing private school ever. The only problem is that the gym is terrible. The paint is peeling off the walls, and pieces of the ceiling randomly fall. The gym NEEDS to be redone. Other than that, SNT is amazing! |
| 12/15/2010 | parent | My son is in the 4th grade and the TEACHERS really do care. My son has been there since pre-k and I have no complaints. The teachers are great and they make it "fun" as my son puts it to make the class interesting enough to capture their interest. The teaching level is much higher then that of public schools or even other private schools. They have created a family atmosphere for the kids. They have many programs for the kids and parents to be involved in. I have never encountered a group of teachers that actually take to the kids (that are not theirs) and care for them as if they are their very own. I totally love this school my son does also. Although many may think that this school is too expensive for the kind of education our kids are getting I feel that its not expensive at all. I mean it's not cheap either but it's well worth the $$ for the kids... |
| 11/19/2010 | other | I attended St. Nick's from K-8th grade; graduated in 2003. Based on my experience as a student there I highly recommend it. High-school was a joke to me. 9th and 10th grade math was covered in my 5th grade class. Life and Earth Science ( covered in 9th and 10th grade) was also a review for me, as we covered the same topics in detail in 7th and 8th grade. My first grade teacher decided to do an activity where,for fun, she told us what professions she thought we'd be good at. Told me, id be a money maker and I am currently a law school student. Haven't met the new principal but Ive heard that she seems to really be making an effort to leave a good impression on her students and help the school as a whole. Many of the teachers I've had are still teaching there and were all under-appreciated at the time, but looking back...they did a great job. Great School. |

I am a strait A student and I still am in and need tutoring. Not everything is bad though,for example,the gym teacher seems to keep everybody in shape. The sports program is awesome. The principal is a very nice lady but she does not smile. She is not a good role model. Please do not send your children to this school. I go to this school and I can guarantee you that you will nt like it at all. |

The principle is wonderful but she can't be in the classroom with the teachers. The teachers do not like to deal with the parents and if your child needs help in a subject they will not let you know and they do not respond to letters. Please do not send your child here. |

| 4/22/2009 | student | this is my very 1st year at st.nicholas of tolentine and my very 1st year at a private school. That's right, i've been raised in public school all my life. This school is so far very cool. they offer extrodinary programs that I've never even heard or consided before in public school like the school wal-a-thon and the art contest. they also have very fun field trips. Like the trip to the rollerskating rink. this school has created so many fun filled memories for me and this is only my 1st year here. I'm so excited for next year!!!! (I'm in 6th grade so far) I hope you send your kid herenext year! |

My child will be entering 1st grade this Sept. and I am very pleased with the level of education so far received. The ethnic diversity of the student body teaches tolerance and acceptance in a society where children are often exposed to racism and bigotry. My child is far more advanced than many of my friend's children who attend other private and public schools. A wonderful school with caring teachers. |
| 5/28/2006 | former student | While there are few advanced programs and no official foreign language, art, or music programs to date, the qualities that stand out at SNT are it's diverse character and great teaching. The mix of students from many different ethnicities and many religions teaches students the value of tolerance. There are also many teachers at SNT who teach simply because they love teaching, as I have observed. The school is also active in the CYO sports program and there are many oppurtunities for service in the school, a theme of the school. Overall, the education and the character building that takes place at SNT prepares its students in a unique way. |

The teachers are excellent, thorough, and always open for communication. I like the fact that my children get a substantial amount of classwork and homework without feeling over-worked. My husband and I are very happy with our choice of school because our children are receiving an excellent religious education in a loving school with a diverse student body. |

Once a rapport is established with your child's teacher, and it is recognized that 'it takes a village to raise a child,' it is smooth sailing. My child had a few behaviorial issues at the start of Kindergarten, while academnically his attainment was great. With close communication with his teacher, we were able to get his behavior to the standard that is acceptable for 1st grade. St. Nick's recognizes a child's potential, talents, and interests and assists the child in developing those skills. A good school. |
