The school has many interesting classes from cooking to car engineering. They also have a tv studio that is used to give information to students. |

| 7/12/2010 | | Arlington is a big school and that can seem daunting to newly arrived students. However, this large size means more than just a long graduation ceremony. Students have a wide range of academic, club, and sport activitites. As a student at Arlington all of my classes my senior year were AP giving me a huge step up when entering college. Not only that but I was able to pursue the sport of fencing with the schools club. |
| 3/17/2010 | student | To September 13, 2009: I have no desire to start a comment war. I'd just like to say that I didn't mean the monitors are out to get people. What I've noticed is that they rarely treat anyone with kindness unless they're all buddy-buddy. Last year, I needed to leave my lunch period to go to guidance for a personal issue. I was visibly upset, and the monitor stopped me. This is not where the problem lay. The issue was that the monitor was sitting with a student who told her not to trust me. I then had to awkwardly go through getting permission from another teacher, having my friends vouch for me, etc. That is unnecessary. I was going to Guidance - not outside to smoke weed. However, so many people still find a way out to do just that. [>.<] |
| 3/16/2010 | student | I currently attend AHS. I feel it is a very school. It has an amazing music program, with the best jazz band in the northeast and a marching band in the top 3 of the state. I have never had a bad math, science, or social studies teacher at Arlington. It is a large school, but that just means that more types of classes and clubs can be offered. Also it means that there is someone for everyone to be friends with, and many people who would be outsiders at other schools can still find large numbers of people who share their interests. The foreign language program could use some work though, and the building itself isn't that great. |

Most teachers are wonderful, and because of the vast amount of students, I have been able to make countless friends. A major problem with the school though is that is if filled with ignorance. Classmates don't care about school in general. Like in any school, there are kids who don't give a damn, and the only place they will end up in the world is on the streets. With our vast amount of students, it does seem that there are a lot of them, but its the same percent compared to others. Despite what others (the comment below mine) say, the hall monitors are not out 'to get you.' I do not know any of them personally, but because i don't loiter in the halls, or skip class, there is no interaction between us. |

Yes it is big to those who see if from outside but once you are part of the Arlington community you couldn't feel anymore at home. The administaration, the couselors,faculty, and staff are great. There is so much to get involved in and so many classes to take advantage of. With a few exceptions, the teachers are great as well. I loved going there and still feel part of Arlington's community. Go Admirals!!! |

I personally look forward to going to school everyday, and we definitely have a lot of school spirit. The problem is the teachers. There's many teachers who think they can say whatever they want to us and that they are surperior to us kids. But besides that go arlington [: its a great school. |

The school offers so many programs and classes so that everyone can find something that interests them. The administration is exceptional as well as the majority of the teachers.Looking back over my school years, I wish I had the opportunities afforded these children. |

There is always something to do, and many resources. There is a lot of opportunity that any child can experience. Best time of my life. |

( If you cannot find a club that interests you the administration is always open to new clubs.) The sports teams and support are spectacular, and it has one of the best special education programs in the county. In addition, the honors program produces some of the 'best and brightest' in the country, many going on to ivy league educations. As a current student I have realized arlington is what everyone puts into it, and if you do not participate in the school community it is very likely you will not enjoy your experiences there. |

Security administrators have come and gone, the population of students has almost doubled (making the school very overcrowded). Arlington strengths are in its academic programs, very high in quality, teachers know their subjects well, and wonderful preparation for college. Yet, there are drawbacks, admin./teach/counselors/ do not know you unless you fight for their attention, life at Arlington is not nurturing by any means, students are competitive, and the extracurricular activities are in dire need of serious variety, there are only a few extracurrs. students can be involved in, and counselors do not know of many internships etc in the area. Finally, if you are looking for diversity in the student body, do not send your child here. |

All three boys can attest to the quality of the education they received as compared to some of their college peers from other locales. The lessons my guys learned in the classroom, on the playing field, and on the concert stage were invaluable. Worth every cent of my school taxes! |
| 9/21/2004 | former student | Take this from a former student: This school is great. It's not as large as it seems. They give you plenty of time to get from class to class and even though the class are larger than some schools, it does not mean that the students are not getting a top quality education. They have PLENTY of Special Ed. Teachers and Aides, as well as many very qualified teachers. AHS also has one of the best sports program out there. Its afterschool activites are not found in many other schools. There are even classes offered here that are not offered at many of the other local schools. Do yourself a favor, and just check it out a few times. Inquire within with some of the other students and some of the personnel. You will see for yourself that there is not much you can complain about. |
| 9/18/2004 | parent | First of all, it's ridiculous that this area is meant for parents to post comments. Parents are not there every day, students are. Arlington is overall a very good school. It is large, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The large student population can support a wide variety of extracurricular activities and also a wide variety of classes that smaller classes cannot have because there would be too few interested students. While it isn't the most diverse school, the large population does allow students to interact with people from different backgrounds. In short, it's size certainly doesn't hurt, it simply prepares students for the real world. Complain all you want about the size, then you can just complain more later on in life when you work for a company with thousands of other employees. They aren't going to separate the company into two different groups for you. |

The principals are dedicated and take time to spend days with one class. They visit each class throughout the year and talk to the students informally. It's very comfortable and easy to find one's way. Contrary to the previous statement, rarely does anyone get lost and even if they did, the hall monitors and other students are happy to help. As for opportunities, Arlington has an amazing music program that surpasses many regional schools and their athletic department is excellent as well. By keeping all of the grades together, underclassmen get to see what goes on with the upperclassmen and learn from them, and the upperclassmen can help the underclassmen. All in all, as a current junior there, it is an excellent school. |

Special ed kids have less opportunities where as they should have more. The school is too big, and kids can get lost. It should be split in 2 parts. One for the freshmen and sophmores and one for the juniors and the seniors. |

Need to spilt the school smaller or do a 9th & 10th in one school and 11th & 12th in the other the way it used to be. Great program for sports & music. Horrible for special ed needs-kids difinately lost in the cracks- a lot of drop outs for small rural area kids. School does not seem real interested in the spec. ed needs kids at all- likes to promote their acheivers. |

This school has a very strong sports and extracurricular program, and it is excellent for children who are intellectually gifted. They offer advanced classes no other school in the area has. The Regents level students will find the classes to be very much the same as anywhere else, and there is nothing overly impressive or bad about thier mainstream curriculum. |
