10/14/2009parentLack of leadership and decision making capability among administration
10/14/2009otherA little too draconian on disiplinary matters. To the point of utterly disregarding common sense.
9/16/2009parentThe Teachers faculity and staff are great and are all about the kids.
9/18/2008parentI am a parent of senior who transferred to LHS this year. I am happy to say the transition was made easy because of the support of the Guidance Department. LHS offers University in High Schools curriculum as well and I am looking forward to a great year!
9/1/2008otherI am a former student and I think this school is great. The teachers are wonderful. They always are willing to help with whatever issues you have. The guidance department are a great group of people. When ever you needed someone to talk to wether it be acdemics or personal matters they always listen and try to help without passing judgements. I personally think this school is one of the best schools in the Troy area.
11/23/2007studentI am currently a junior at Lansingburgh, and I think the teaching staff is wonderful. I know for a fact that if I were to go to any teacher in the building, whether I know them personally or not, they would go out of their way to help me with whatever problem I happened to have. The teachers, administration, faculty and staff are all great people, they care about every single student, and I personally could not ask for a better group of adults to spend my 4 years with.
9/14/2004parentThe school does little to help those who have problems with subjects the high school would rather see students fail then doing alternatives, then they blame the state.
3/5/2004parentI am very disappointed in the school district. They do not utilize available outside resources for students who are at risk of dropping out or need additional help with behavior issues. I have repeatedly asked the district for assistance for my 15 yo son and have been advised that they do not participate in these programs. Two teachers at the High School has gone above and beyond trying to guide and help my son. They have made recommendations to the guidance office and principal with no effect. I am an alumni of the school district and am ashamed of the lack of programs for students.
12/30/2003former studentWith my experience with this school, school staff do not act or think the way that they should to be a proper example to the students. They tend to gossip openly about serious matters partaining to the students but nothing to do with scholastic activities. They seem unwilling to make an effort in helping the more difficult students who actually need the help. My younger sister was actually sent a letter of GED programs when she turned 16! She was not the easy or ideal student. That was there answer to the problem.
11/12/2003parentDifficult demographics. My son is a senior. The superintendent has made promises to look into issues & call back but does not. At a recent school board mtg. to meet new board candidates 4 parents attended! It is sad that only a minority of teachers are focused on education. During recent teacher/parent conferences, the head of guidance couldn't answer pertinent questions as he never paid attention! (He has since left) Students are allowed to 'hang out & chill' in the nurse s office instead of attending classes! 7 mos. ago a teacher told my son 'your parents don't want you to know this but you are 16 and legally old enough to drop out. I reported this and was ignored. Parents at this school need to get involved but don't. 80% of school board members appear as a 'good ole boy network'. I empathize with the few truly good teachers.
8/26/2003parentit is a good school but the students are a little judgemental
8/22/2003former studentI found that this school needs more sports for the kids who don't play the sports that are available. I am a volleyball player and this school had no such sports team. Other than that the school is an average high school. Some of the students don't get along with the teachers and vice versa.
