| 3/15/2005 | parent | After meeting the principals of no. 27 and Enrico Fermi and comparing school offerings, E.F appeared to stand head and shoulders above, boasting the montessori curriculum, a music/arts/drama/language program package, as well as having its students accptd at the city's montessori-based middle schools. Both the principal and vice principal spoke with pride, enthusiasm and conviction about their commitment to 'their' kids. Because of this my husband and I balloted E.F. first. By the beginning of the school year, the principals had been reassigned, new teachers were brought in, and the programs were cut! our son's first teacher took away his peanut butter crackers, apple, distilled water and soy milk lunch because she dubbed them 'unacceptable.' A school injury went untended and unreported until we complained. The second teacher wanted him to sit and color all day stating: he's more advanced; I have to focus on the others! |
