| 7/8/2008 | parent | I think we forget to think that every school in Pa has problems I brought my children here from the city which believe me had problems, there old school was in the process of uniforms which took 3 years of voting, arguing, and becoming headlines in our local paper the styles have certainly changed clothing got smaller and tighter but I agree with some parents about watching what your child wears to school is a must, what is considered club clothes stays in a club! As far as the sports that is the same in every school I don't know when it changed but its been like that for a long time and I don't quite understand! How many kids make it big in sports what is so important that it shadows education! Its hard to be a parent we must keep fighting for our children. |
| 4/2/2008 | parent | Very poor teaching at the middle school level. Teachers unqualified teaching classes with no training in that area. Worse at the high school level (for the most part). Great teaching at the elementary level. Administrators with spouses on the school board - can you say conflict of interest? Superintendent who lies and says college freshman (chs alumni) say they were well prepared for college when in fact they discuss how unprepared they were. More worried about PSSA scores to get their money than actually teaching. Teachers who do nothing but gripe about the 'rotten' kids who should have retired years ago and complain about the 'crappy' pay in a depressed area for 9 months of work and teaching the exact same thing taught to siblings 20 years ago. Principal - good. Superint. - LOUSY. Avg. teacher quality - poor. Safety - good. Parent involve - same parents for everything. |
| 3/27/2008 | student | Clearfield isn't as bad as it is put out to be. Some of the teaching is horrendous and yes it is true that sports are definately a number one priority, but compared to inter-city schools and even smaller schools in the area. Glendale is a school well known for drug rings and they are busted in school. There have been no school shooting and the only busts are because the teenagers are pulling the stunt of smoking on the grounds at Clearfield. There are favoritisms as listed below, but don't all schools have them? Do you get my drift? So, relax and really get to know it here. |
| 10/13/2007 | parent | Clearfield High School ranks as one of the worst high schools in Pennsylvania. Test scores are an embarrassment, the school board has failed to maintain the building, and graduating seniors are not prepared for academic success at graduating. Too little emphasis on student learning. Start over! |
| 4/30/2007 | student | I am a new student at Clearfield High school this year. I don't really know anyone, but it didn't take me long to notice the favoritism in this school. The Dress code is seriously overated. It is unbelievable. I personally do not like this school at all. This school is the worst school I have ever attended... Wow.. Drama. = ) |
| 2/23/2006 | parent | I think this school is a joke and by far the worst my child has attended after moving! It depends on who you are and what sport you do on the way you are treated there! You can change your hair color or dress anyway you want as long as your parent works there or you are in a sport etc! What a shame! |
| 10/3/2005 | parent | This school is more interested in the sports programs, there are too many teachers that are also coaches. They are consumed with their coaching duties not their teaching duties. |
| 8/22/2005 | parent | A mediocre school that thinks it is better than it is just because the other schools nearby are even worse. |
| 11/5/2004 | parent | Over the years this high school has really gone down hill. You have a Vice Principal who is also the head football coach which is clearly a conflict of interest, there are a variety of sports to participate in but the football program seems to get all the glory and exposure. I graduated from this school and i have 3 boys who attended or still does and i just think its a big disappointment the way this school is run and they get away with it. |
| 10/21/2004 | parent | I think the dress code is a joke. Another thing is there are to many sudents in one class and they need more one on one. I am not happy with Clearfield H.S. |
| 9/2/2004 | parent | I don't agree with the dress code at all. You can't hand out the dress code after school has already started. Most of the parents can't afford to go purchase a completely new set of clothes because something doesn't agree with the dress code. There is to much emphasis on the football team. I can't wait till my kids are out of there. |
| 7/20/2004 | former student | Dress Code? I think it's the parents job to decide what their child does or does not wear. However, if a school is going to have a dress code, it needs to be an all around dress code. That means that the see-through mesh football shirts and those obscenely short skirts that the cheer-leaders wear as part of their uniforms should be included.(Yes the students wear them to class) This is coming from the same school that sends their girls track team out to compete in nearly transparent white nylon tank tops. I'm sure they take offence to being called the Lady Bison Thin-Clads. |
| 6/28/2004 | parent | Does anyone else think this school is getting out of control? The people that work in the office are completly rude and need to take a phone skills class or something. The dress code is, don't even know really how to explain it. If kids can't wear certain clothes because other kids/teachers are destracted, then thats a personal problem, and you should learn to be more open mined, wait till these people leave Clearfield. They might not no what hits them. The school needs to worry about studies more than sports and clothes... Your suppose to be teaching something its your job! |
| 8/18/2003 | other | Overall, Clearfield is an ok school. It's in a pretty rural community and most of the teachers and administrators are always willing to help. There is a major problem, however, in dealing with the dress code this year. They have taken the rights away from the students, causing more problems than they've solved. Also, the school has a large emphasis on its sports, particularly football. This can be good or bad depending. I'm sure some will disagree with my opinion, but this information is coming from an accurate source; I am a senior at Clearfield, and i think others should have a little insight about how some people really feel about the 'changes' taking place in our school. |
