| 11/16/2011 | parent | If you have a parent/relative working at the district, go to the head of the class; otherwise, it's just barely an average school. Resources seem to be focused on sports and sports; arts, music, literature, math, history, writing - the things a school should be doing - seem to be an afterthought. |
| 1/2/2008 | student | This school has a horrible learning program, especially if you are gifted and the school will not help you to learn more. I sit in class all day without learning anything new other than in Algebra. |
| 2/21/2006 | staff | If you happen to have a gifted child this school district stinks! The program, if you could call it that, is run like a 'fun club' instead of the specialized education program PA has regulated it under chapter 16. A child with any kind of of disability will not get the special individual learning they need. This is the school my spouse graduated from and 30 years ago it was a small rural school district with a graduating class of under 80 ,now with a graduating class of over 150 it is just shy of state average size. They need to play catch-up and have a higher standard if people are to stay in this high taxed, low standard shool district. |
| 4/1/2004 | parent | I don't know about your child, but my fifth grader is plenty busy, and learning in what he considers an interesting environment. Gym class covers much more than dodge ball. I grew up in this district, and have always felt that it has a lot to offer, you must sieze it. That is not to say that there is not room for improvement. I am a firm believer in the fact that schools primary goal is and should be education. Extra curricular activities must take a back seat to that. No we do not need artifical turf, yes some teachers need to retire. But as a whole, Riverside has a lot to be proud of. |
| 2/24/2004 | parent | This school lacks in the extracurricular activities for the middle school students. Alot of teachers lack creative teaching skills, and never venture off the beaten path. With so many things to learn and discover in this day and age they could at least figure out something new to inspire the students. How about instead of year after year of dodgeball in gym class, something like hiking/survival skills, bicycling, archery? How about an outside science class once in a while to discover hands on with our enviroment? But we hear there is no money, yet taxes aaare high, but lets put in new stadium lights and artifical turf! We hope to be leaving the district soon! |
