| 11/19/2009 | parent | This a relatively modern school with dedicated teachers and staff, but they follow a common Pennsylvania LNCB practice of teaching students how to pass the PSSA tests, spending 20% of the school year preparing for the tests. Any student that is above average is essentially ignored becasue the instructors are so focused on pulling PSSA scores up. You would think that a school with such high scores would have many AP level students, right? Nope. 20 kids out of 350 participate in the schools advanced program, gathering once a week for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The rest of the time they attend the same classes as the average and below average students, getting A's for successfully spelling 2nd grade words like 'print'. If you have an above average student, do not expect him/her to be challenged here. The standards are very, very low. |
