| 3/13/2012 | parent | We moved here mid year 2011-12 from Missouri and have found this school to beyondd reproach. The curriculum is structured and the teachers are excellent. They have helped (especially) Mrs. Pulleo our daughter smoothly adjust to the transition which is hard for any kindergartner. All the staff and teachers are super pleasant and the Principal Amy Burch is very involved and knows the kids by name! She is always greeting the students and parents and knows the pulse of her school. They make education fun with their assemblies and principal of the day events involving the students and rewarding good behavior. We are lucky to have such an excellent school in our neighborhood! The PTA is very involved and due to my job I am not able to lend a hand as I wanted to but look forward to doing so in the near future. It is nice to see the parents and teachers all come together to create a support system which our children benefit from. I will hands down recommend this school to parents considering this school and future residents of Brentwood. |
| 10/15/2011 | parent | My son attended Kindergarten here for a couple of week while I worked things out with my hubby. I just have to say that my son and I are so sad to leave and go back to Georgia. The teachers, staff & administration were ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Hoover in Mt Lebanon and if given the choice, I would pick ELROY!!!!! Their Kindergarten is all day long & academically structured...having a background in child development I thought perhaps this would be too much. It's not, ELROY has a GREAT program and works very well in helping EACH INDIVIDUAL CHILD adjust! Not only do they have Speech Therapist, but Occupational Therapist, as well as an assortment of paraprofessionals, aides & parent volunteers. |
| 10/14/2010 | parent | My granddaughter is receiving an excellent education at Elroy. Her teachers to date have been caring and I give them my respect and praise. |
| 6/29/2010 | parent | My daughter is going into second grade and I love the community atmosphere of this school. The teachers are caring, approachable, and knowledgeable. Miss Burch is an awesome principal who can regularly be seen talking with parents and students after school. |
| 1/30/2007 | parent | There has been a complete turn around at this school since the new principal, Mr. Lydon, has arrived. He is wonderful! He cares about the students and is very visible and responsive. The kids relate to him well and he is caring. I can't say enough about the turnaround he has caused. This school is on track to become as he terms it: 'The Best Elementary School in PA.' I applaud the District for this smart hire. He seems to work tirelessly on behalf of the School and District. I think once all of his teachers put forth this same effort, this school will rock! |
| 8/19/2005 | parent | This is in response to the April 2005 letter about bullying. Please put a note in the PTA mailbox if you wish of ANY future problems with the bullying of your child at Elroy. I am on the Safety Awareness committee and will bring it to attention at our next meeting. If there is another problem and our committee is made aware of the situation I promise it will be taken care of correctly. Thank you. |
| 4/29/2005 | parent | There is an endemic attitude at this school that bullying and threatening other children is okay, and that the victim is the one to blame. When my son and I reported to his first grade teacher that he had been chased down on the playground by a group of third graders her response was to turn to him and say 'You must have done something to make them do that.' When I reported to the principal that another student threatened to kill my son I was told 'there's nothing I can do about it.' |
