| 4/14/2012 | other | Sad lack of leadership. Lack of compassion and fairness to students. My grandchildren will definitely not be returning next year. We will look elsewhere. |
| 4/13/2012 | parent | I strongly agree with the last 2 people that posted here. There is a much more negative feeling, than in giving the students any positive feedback. Children do not seem to be treated as individuals, but are expected to follow an old-world conformity. Trouble, also, meeting with teachers and staff...usually unavailable. Very worried, also, about all the automobiles that wait on school property near playgrounds, long before students get out.. At this day and age, it is not safe. Very concerned and disappointed. |
| 3/1/2012 | parent | Punitive atmosphere as opposed to working from a positive reinforcement framework, no time to celebrate childhood, multiple attempts to engage with teachers, staff and resolve issues without much success. Very disappointed this year. |
| 11/14/2010 | parent | Both of my children attended this school. It is a great school if you are white, wealthy and Christian. About 30 years behind in racial and religious tolerance. Still in the children are to be seen and not heard Southern mentality. Extreme nepotism, and favoritism is rampant toward employee and parent volunteers children. Dissappointed would be putting it mildly. |
| 10/9/2010 | teacher | I taught there and my children went there and received an excellent elementary education! |
| 8/6/2009 | parent | All three of my children were fortunate to attend Lakewood during their elementary years! This school has a long history of consistantly high performance. I found the faculty and staff to be both professional and welcoming. Super school! |
| 9/3/2007 | parent | Lakewood ES is one of the best on the beach. We are very pleased with the staff, teachers, and administrators. Coming from another state where education is highly valued, I was concerned with putting my children in public schools. All my fears are now gone! |
| 5/17/2007 | parent | I believe that Lakewood Ele. has some of the rudest office stall, teachers, and bus drivers. I am very glad that my child will not be returning to Lakewood Ele. Upset parent of a child attending the school now. |
| 1/30/2007 | parent | Lakewood is a great school for all children. Everyone i have been connected with has been available and willing to help. Our children have now moved on but will never forget the great experience of lakewood elem. |
| 5/10/2004 | parent | My children moved into this school mid-year. Two of my four children had left a school where they were involved in a special education program. On the transfer paperwork I submitted and in all my conversations with the staff and teachers, I asked that these two children be continued in the SST process. Here it is 3 weeks before the end of school and 14 weeks later and still I have not been contacted about the SST nor have the begun the required testing needed to start the SST process. All this testing was done in Georgia prior to our move, but the school won't accept it. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed in this school. My children will not be returning in the Fall. On a positive note, however, the teachers I have encountered at this school are great. For children without learning disabilities, it is good. |
| 9/30/2003 | parent | I'm very happy with Lakewood, they work very hard for our children and they are very involved. I wish they could teach up to the 12th grade. |
