| 4/22/2012 | other | The best school ever! I love it tooooo death! I love all the staff in the school! |
| 4/5/2012 | parent | I currently have a child in the 7th grade at Northside and have had a child at this school for the past 5 years. The principal and assistant principal are responsive and highly involved with the students. I think there is a good atmosphere for learning in the school and good positive parent involvement. That being said, I do think the school could offer more challenging coursework and a wider array of elective subjects, but much of that is due to the school district Northside is in. |
| 8/29/2011 | parent | This school continues to slip in the ratings. It's a "6" now. I plan to move before I send my next child to this school. |
| 4/14/2010 | parent | I went to Northside Middle School, my child is going there now and Northside is where I began my passion in writing poetry! |
| 2/10/2009 | parent | I am really shocked by the type of teachers they allow in schools these days. It would be a stretch to think that any of my childs teachers like children in any way. This is a school that does not challenge their minds and when a child is interested and questions things for learning sake they are disciplined. A simple failure to raise your hand in class lands your child in detention and the label of a problem child. Part of teaching for these age groups includes a bit of baby sitting and if a teacher can not handle the fact that kids occassionally talk out of turn then they should be teaching college students not primary and middle school. |
| 1/5/2009 | parent | I have been an NMS parent for 5 years and the experience has been excellent. My children have definitely been challenged academically and the teachers have been wonderful. I have found Northside to be a positive environment in all aspects. I would encourage you to speak with one of the administrators at the school if you have specific concerns so that the issue can be addressed. |
| 8/25/2008 | parent | We are very pleased with the curriculum, leadership, teachers and entire environment at Northside. |
| 8/1/2007 | student | I love Northside it's the best School i've ever went to. The students and teachers are great. I recommend this shool to any newcomers. |
| 7/23/2007 | student | I'm a student at Northside Middle School and I'm glad that I go there to get a good education. The teachers at this school are awesome |
| 4/28/2007 | student | I am a proud student of Northside middle school, and I think it is great! All the extracurricular activity's are really good. For example, they have a sculpture class that is very fun for students because we get to handle clay. The teacher's are really nice and supportive of their students. The teacher's want to help make the kids the best they can be, and they are doing it! Over all, Northside is a great school, and a any kid who goes their is having a great experience. |
| 8/1/2005 | parent | Amen, to the person who posted the crititism of Northside's principal, Ronnie Thompkins leaves a lot to be desired! We have had much the same experience at Northside. Poor communication, bad attitudes. Poor or no response from the District. I thought this school was supposed to be 'the best' Middle School in the District. If it is, we are all in trouble. Palmetto's Finest! What a joke! |
| 7/28/2005 | parent | Northside is the best school I could ask for. My daughter has lots of friends and wonderful teachers. The sports teams are great and the other extra curricular activities are LOTS of fun! I love Northside and my daughter does too! |
| 10/24/2004 | parent | This school's guidance counselors and principal are obstacles to the parents being involved with their child's academic and overall development. I have experience with many other schools in and out of South Carolina and I have never known any parent to have as much difficulty communicating with staff and teachers as I have at Northside. Their inaction is a direct violation of SC Law. I expressed my concerns to the District and State Superintendents to no avail. Northside Middle School is a perfect example of why SC ranks last in SAT scores in the US. I regret my child is there. |
| 10/31/2003 | parent | The staff and teachers are always willing to take the time to talk to you and spend extra time with the kids to make sure they are being taught not pushed to pass the PACT exam. We are proud to be a part of this school! |
