I've done a lot of volunteer work at the high school and have found the faculty and administration to be extremely supportive and caring of the students. It's a WONDERFUL school! |

There's a ton of school spirit at CHS. The teachers are wonderful, and the administration is very caring. My teenager absolutely loves going to school! |
| 6/22/2010 | parent | I notice that there have been NO recent reviews, probably because many parents are not aware this is even available. I want to say that I had one child attend CHS for 2 yrs and then we had to put him in private school. Not all, but a good percent of the teachers do not care about anything, they are there for the paycheck. It's sad to say but it is true. I have a child entering CHS this year and we will give it a try and see if much has changed, but from what I hear it's all the same. I'll update you in a few months ! and I hope for my child's sake there have been positive changes !! |

The teachers are top notch professionals and the administration is very in touch with what is happening in the students' lives. Cookeville High School is very welcoming yet protects our students well. I feel that my child has a safe learning environment while at CHS. He loves everything about this school. I would highly recommend this school because of the top notch AP, IB classes. The best kept secret of Cookeville High School is Mrs. WInchester. She is very helpful to all students and when I had questions that I needed answered, she was very eager to help. My child has forgotten lunch money and she gave to him form her own pocket. I know that my child is getting a great education while being nurtured at the same time. |

With great wealth of knowlege comes a great sacrifice in extracurricular activities. Sports, Clubs, Pep-rallies, and other factors that contribute to the everlasting experiances of high school are almost absent. Yes, sports programs are present, but they are not focussed on at all by the student body. I give this school a 4 because of the incredible oppurtunities it casts upon its students. |

Fine arts have many available classes as well and there is great involvement throughout the school with sports and clubs. Parents do not have as great a role as they could, but there is still leadership especially in major sports and band. |
| 11/29/2006 | parent | I have used www.teacherweb.com since my children were in elementary school. Prescott faculty also uses it. Avery Trace also has a web site that shares the same concept. Why doesn't Cookeville High School teachers take the time to post assignments on teacherweb or some other site for parents who care about their children's responsibilities. We have to work as a team to prevent bad opportunities and influences to invade their lives. Let's see this in our near future. I (as a parent) am counting on all of you teachers. I guarantee you would see an improvement in at least half of the ones who don't turn in assignments. The parents would know what to look for. Wouldn't that be a good enough reason to post assignments? Most teens aren't responsible. I feel helpless not teaching mine to keep up with their work, because even I don't know their assignments. Thank you. |

All my children looked forward to the activities and want them back. Putnam school need to revise the policy on our children safety and but them ahead of all. Most teachers are good.But the attendence office is very rude and should not work with the public at all. Never dealt with the principal but most of assist principals are pleasant to work with. |
| 8/30/2005 | parent | Cookeville has been going down hill for the last 4 or 5 years. Stundents hate the administrators and have nothing pushing them to work hard. All the extra things stundents loved, such as spring fling and and homecoming days, has been cut from the program... all work and no play was never good. I believe the people in charge need to put themselves in the stundents shoes. What if you never got a reward for being good and working hard... you would stop behaving and working, and that is what the students will do it things aren't changed. There can be to much discipline and not enough rewards. |

We have been very pleased with their experience and education in the school system. My son and daughter are excelling in college, scored above average on 'national and state testing'. Cookeville High School prepared my children very well for college as well as life. I can highly recommend not only Cookeville High School, but also the Putnam County School system as a whole. |

Some students will not be able to graduate early as planned and prepared for. The baseball program is pitiful it has been through several coaches and lost a lot of good players. |

The things I have found at this school are friendly teachers and peers, many opportunnities for success in the future and several extracurricular activities. I myself am in the band, and I can say that we are always busy. When I first arrived, I was surprised to find that people my age had respect, something my other schools lacked. The teachers are very experienced here and have bright, fun personalities and any student woould be lucky to call Cookeville High thier school. This is one of the best schools I have attended in my educcation so far. |

My children have matured so much in the past years they have been enrolled. I would recommend CHS to anyone in search of a school in Putnam County. |
| 7/23/2004 | parent | We are new parents to Putnam County and Cookeville High School. My daughter transferred from a school in Central Florida to CHS in the middle of her freshman school year. She was overwhelmed by the size of the school but truly enjoyed her classes and the teachers who taught them, completing her freshman year on the A-B honor roll. I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Shanks the principal who immediately addressed a concern I had with the orientation process. It is rewarding to know that although CHS has an extensive athletic program, the school also offers and fully supports a wonderful arts program (chorus, band, drama, art, photography, radio/tv, honors english, etc..) As with every school there are some teachers who should either retire or find another occupation, but overall, I highly recommend Cookeville High School to any family considering a move to Putnam County. |
| 4/12/2004 | parent | Most of the staff at Cookeville High are very good in teaching their subjects and helping the students learn, others have a problem picking favorites and singling people out. My child has been a 'A,B' student every year until now, her senior spring term we have came to see that one of her teahers are not doing that well of a job helping the class to understand. Her grades have droped and I am disapponinted with her teacher. My over all point of view, if it wasn't for my daughters last year at CHS I would take her out of the school or if I had it to do over I would be sending her to a different school. |
