| 9/2/2012 | parent | We have been very pleased with NCA. My children are in elementary and have been attending for two years now. The school has a Christ centered vision and strong educational leadership. |
| 7/16/2012 | parent | I am sorry to say that our experience at NCA was not what we had hoped it to be. It did not take long to discover that if you were not a member of the church there, your family was treated differently. Staff kids had one set of rules while everyone else had another. We were continuously being asked for money and to volunteer our time but if we had an issue that needed to be addressed, we felt as though our concerns were not even so much as acknowledged. As far as a Christian Atmosphere, I did not feel the love of Christ at any time during our 4 years there. My prayer is that maybe this review and others like it will open there eyes to the things that definitely need work. They have an awesome opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their students as well as the community around them but changes definitely will have to be made in order to do so. I think that the turn over in students as well as faculty proves just that. |
| 5/30/2012 | parent | This private Christian School could be so much more. We had our child attend this school for about four years. By the fourth year (5 months into a new year) my child received bad conducts "daily" from his "new teacher". My child wasn't a bad student (A's). The teacher was excessive with her conduct notes not only to my child but many other childern. The whole class and parents were in an up-roar! No positive re-enforcement when you "think" your putting your child in loving hands of the Lord. A human being can only be told their horrible every day for so long. If you send your child here.... not sure you will get a quality teacher. |
| 1/20/2012 | parent | Our son started kindergarten this year and we checked out many Christian schools in the area. We are so glad we chose this one. I know when I drop him off everyday he is safe, loved by his teachers, getting a great education, and learning about the Lord. I have met the kindergarten & 1st grade teachers, the office staff, some high school teachers, and many parents since he started. I am still impressed! Again, so glad we chose NCA. |
| 10/7/2011 | parent | My 2nd and 4th grader attend NCA, one since kindergarten and my oldest since 1st grade. We've had some great teachers and some we didn't agree with. However, overall this school is excellent if you want your children to attend a school that teaches the truth from the WORD of God in addition to the curriculum. The principal K. Starks has an excellent open door policy and we love her! The office staff is always friendly and helpful. NCA will give your kids an opportunity to flourish as children of God as they grow from the youngest of ages on into their teen years. You cannot receive that from a public school, period. very pleased parent, J.Lewis |
| 3/28/2011 | parent | Rapidly growing athletic program that offers plenty of choices for a school this size. Principal has open door policy with students. Secondary math is excellent. This was a great change from public school for my child in secondary. Some great teachers--some not so great--as in any school. But all care staff members care about the students. Glad to leave the drama of public school behind. A lot of small in-house fund raising (not selling to friends) in addition to the tuition, but it is all voluntary and money goes to athletics, mission efforts, etc. |
| 1/18/2011 | other | Sports department is the worst ever! Very little to choose from. Most coaches have never played the sport they coach like basketball. This department needs to be overhauled! Very weak! |
| 7/12/2010 | parent | Teachers are great. The principal is very kind and caring. She will go out of her way to help. |
| 3/30/2010 | parent | My daughter started in the daycare when she was 2 months old. She is now a Junior in High School. Nazarene Christian Academy has helped her grow into a remarkable young women of God. The teachers and staff love her almost as much as I do. State champs in volleyball, whatelse do I need to say? |
| 2/11/2010 | parent | Our first experience with NCA started at their daycare school, The Training Depot. Although there are some wonderful and spectacular teachers such as Mrs. Lisa Bell in Pre-K, you can not overlook that the centers director, Michelle Tate. Her lack of people skills not only affects her staff but it changed my perception of the school as a whole. Our main reasons for selecting the school was for academics and the christian atmosphere, however, to be in an environment were the director doesn't even speak to you is quite disturbing. |
| 1/25/2010 | parent | My child is in 3rd grade. This is our first year at Nazarene Christian Academy. So far we are very pleased, most of all my child is happy and enjoys going there. |
| 10/10/2009 | parent | My child has been with NCA since PreSchool. He's in 3rd grade now. The quality of eduction very much depends on the quality of teachers. They have their good ones and not so good ones. Certainly, his first and second grade teachers were absolutely outstanding and provided as much personal attention as could be provided. I've seen the school grow and along the way the attendance has also grown. With that the student-teacher ratio has climbed. Not certain that has been a good thing since we selected NCA because of the low student-teacher ratio. The principal changed and she has a different style than the previous principal but she seems to be working out. It was a dramatic change from 2nd to 3rd grade. Got faster. Would have been nice to be warned in advance. Not much communications coming our way this year about the teaching styles. Makes me uncomfortable. |
| 8/21/2009 | parent | My kids are in their second year at NCA, and I can't say enough good things about it. We found out my oldest child has some mild learning disabilities last year. His teacher and the principal went above and beyond to figure out what we needed to do to make school work for him. This year his teacher asked for him knowing that he was going to require extra work. It has been wonderful. I would recommend this school to anybody. |
| 8/19/2009 | parent | NCA has high turn over of teachers. Very weak in English and Science especially in Jr. High and High School. Although NCA claims to have very high standards and moral values, my child was exposed to things that you would expect to see in public schools or larger private institutions. We were very disappointed! |
| 5/13/2009 | other | The school is not what it is rated to be. The education is ok, but could be more challenging in the higher grades. All the students are taught on the same academic level, which is not appropriate for all. You have to pay for almost everything, even after paying tuition. |
| 3/30/2009 | student | I have attented tis school all my life and love it great sports and academics i highly recommend 12th |
| 3/10/2009 | parent | Nazarene Christian Academy has a quality education to offer students K-12. It is rare to find a credible Christian high school that is affordable. NCA is the place. You can find Biblical teaching, caring staff, strong academics, competitive sports, and a variety of extra-curricular activities. It is a TEA recognized school |
| 10/20/2008 | parent | My children have attended this school since 2004. We have been very pleased with the academics as well as the Christian enviornment. There are wonderful Christian leaders at this school who care very much for the children's well being. It's nice to have a Christian school that offers all the extra curricular activities and strong academics at an affordable price. |
| 3/5/2008 | parent | This school is not all it promotes itself as. Staff turnover is high and rules are enforced based on who you are. The staff treated my child with respect. I do not recommend you send your child here |
| 3/1/2008 | parent | The Nazarene Christian Academy in Crowley, TX is a FANTASTIC program for all grades, K-12. The school got a new principal this year and she has been outstanding! The academics are wonderful, as are the extracurricular activities. Fantastic teachers, staff, principal, and pastor! Great for children of all ages and highly recommended. |
| 8/8/2007 | parent | There is a lot of parent involvement in the younger grades. I have a first and second grader and they love it. There are lots of activities for the younger kids: cheerleading, dodgeball, and basketball. All students do art and music every week and choir and band are available. The A Beka program is great. The teachers, staff, and pastors are wonderful and they care about the kids and pray for them. School spirit is high- GO LIONS! |
| 4/29/2007 | parent | Our child attended Nazarene and we feel there were problems with the way the staff treated the children. |
| 3/14/2006 | parent | This is an excellent academic and Christian enviroment. The school now goes up to grade 12, and has a great team of teachers and staff. We feel the money we pay is worth every penny at this private school. And most of all our child is extremely happy and content at this school. |
| 1/17/2006 | parent | Nazarene Christian Academy is an exceptional school. It is very family oriented where the children come first. Students excel with the Beka curriculum, my son is a 6th grader working at an 8th grade level. NCA welcomes parent participation at all levels. Most importantly, Gods word (the Bible) is implememted in thier everyday academics and the students can freely speak about God. Teachers embrace their students! The Music department is fairly new but it is well on thier way. NCA sports are competitive and exciting. I would like to see journalism offered to middle and high school students as well as a Yearbook staff, and Spanish offered as a mandatory elective class for 7/8 graders. All in all NCA offers great teachers who communicate with parents, staff who love our children and a Christian Environment where all students are embraced, encouraged, and challenged in their academic classes. |
| 10/12/2005 | parent | NCA provides a friendly and welcoming environment for children. There are many family activities such as PTF nights and Fall Festival. They offer band, computer, Spanish, and library. It's affordable and quality Christian education. |
| 12/4/2004 | parent | Our children attended this school during the 2003-2004 school year. They aquired a new principal this year, which has not been for the best. It is military like. The principal has zero people skills. The young children spend their day being barked at and running laps during gym. This is not a positive learning environment. |
