| 9/22/2012 | parent | We had two daughters that graduated from HMS in cypress, we loved this school. in 2012 the principal moved to the district office, so hopefully the new one will keep the same greatness. loved this school and appreciative of their hard work. great teachers, staff. all.. |
| 4/24/2012 | parent | Academics are very good, administration is overbearing and has no leeway for balancing discipline with the student's individual personality and learning process. Almost too much emphasis on testing. |
| 4/24/2012 | parent | The teachers appear to be very good and they offer good academics. However, the administration greatly lacks. The principle is absentee. The APs do not communicate, collaborate or partner with parents. They see discipline issues very black and white and have very low tolerence for kid's behavior. This results in kids frequently being removed from class lessons to sit in the office to be interviewed about an incident whether they were at fault or not. |
| 1/27/2012 | parent | I am a parent of a 6th grader and having two children one in elementary and now my oldest in middle school i was new to Hamilton Middle school this year. I love it! My son is a straight A student and likes all his teachers. I think the teachers at Hamilton Elementary did a fantastic job at preparing our kids for 6th grade and the teachers at Hamilton Middle are doing a great job at preparing our kids for highschool. I really dont understand those parents who have left bad reviews for this school I have heard nothing but good things about it since i was a child and am now experiencing it myself. ......I am VERY familiar with this school district as I started going to school here when I was 8. Excellent school Excellent district!!! |
| 9/29/2010 | parent | I pulled my child from this school due to bullying. I advise against this school district not only for that reason, but academically it is also very poor. |
| 6/8/2010 | parent | An excellent school in every way. The teachers are wonderful, and they work hard to make certain your children will succeed. |
| 4/20/2010 | other | It has (mostly) awesome teachers and has been exemplary for the past 3 years and gets good TAKS scores. The lunch actually doesn't taste like barf AT ALL and we are the TIGERS (and everyone should know tigers are BEAST!). Also we have a kool janitor dude and our commons area is named after holocaust survivor Walter Kase. The only time a student ever brought a weapon was when someone accidentally left a pocket knife in his backpack after a spring break camping trip (and for all you skeptics out there his dad confirmed it). It is THE BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL IN THE WORLD. GO TIGERS!!!! |
| 4/11/2010 | student | Great school, I enjoy all of my electives and clubs. To be honest, those who complain about work are just lazy. I'm sorry if you can't color in a map for geography, or if you can't handle TAKS. If you take time to schedule your day, you can find time for your assignments; Don't put them off till the last minute. The bad parent reviews are obiously disgruntled kids or parents who are out of loop. This is the best school in the district. Be glad you're at this school and not at Labay or something. Fyi, I am a student, and I have a distinguished honor roll as well. |
| 11/15/2009 | parent | Unsatisfactory school because of overemphasis on testing. Most time is spent preparing for the TAKS test & taking many quizzes/tests/SFAs(benchmark tests). Even worse, is the amount of homework time students waste coloring & drawing for academic classes. Mine didn't choose to enroll in Art. For some reason, CFISD curriculum dept has decided drawing, writing notes in colored pencil, etc. is a priority. A complete waste of time! A major distraction from educational activities, extracurricular activities, etc. Many teachers are great, but they are bound my HMS/CFISD rules. I agree w/ parent who said administration is overbearing. |
| 8/22/2009 | student | very very good school. I go here and I really enjoy how our school works. |
| 6/18/2009 | student | This school is great. I am a student here and I feel they teach everything we the kids need to know. Pretty much every year our school make at least 95% passing on the TAKS test. And at least 90% make commended. So it is a great school. |
| 2/25/2009 | student | Hamilton is an overall good school, because the teachers have long years of experience and know what and how to teach us. They inspire us to reach for the stars and try are hardest, so we can reach our goals....as for the teachers.... if you were to enter Hamilton Middle School you would be in a absolutely excellent teaching enviroment and you will meet the highest standards you will ever meet (guarenteed)! Just know if you want to attent Hamilton Middle School, then be prepared to work. In a fun learning enviroment. That being said......'Peace out Girl Scout'!(: |
| 2/4/2009 | parent | Hamilton is a great academic school. The administration is strict and sometimes appears overbearing. There isn't much student spirit at the school which is sad in the middle school years. The student populationg appears very good and the admin. should ease up a little and balance the academic side with the discipline side. |
| 1/20/2009 | student | hamilton middle school is the best!! the lunch is good. There is good choices for foods and its healty $.50 for chips and a good snack bar. there soccer team is also greatbut we did not win alot of games last year but this year will be good. by masoodkhan (i dont like L.A.) |
| 9/11/2008 | student | i hate this school! the teachers need to stop giving us worksheets and quizzes and start teaching us something! all of the faculty are rude and forceful, and not inviting or polite at all. the only thing they care about is 'acceptable behavior', they never say anything about us learning anything. i need to get out of hamilton!! |
| 9/5/2008 | student | I scoff at the mention of Hamilton being the best. 'Tis only the academic achievements that say that. What about what the students feel? Bundles of homework, unfair treatment, and there are times where they do unjust things. I loathe Hamilton with all my heart so far this school year (I am an eighth grader.); seventh grade with 'Ms. G' was the best. :) |
| 6/21/2008 | student | I am so blessed to be able to go to a school like this.Hamilton is the best school i have ever gone to.All of the teachers worl hard and are fair. This school truly is amazing. |
| 1/17/2008 | student | Hamilton is the absolute best school in Texas. The theater/speech program is amazing! Sports teams will knock you off your feet. We were district champions in Cross Country this year and our vollyball girls were outstanding. basketball is going great for boys and girls. i would recommend that every parent send their kid to hamilton. they will surly enjoy the experience of studying at one of the most fun yet high-standard schools in Texas. Go Hammy! |
| 8/1/2007 | parent | It all begins at the top, and unfortunately the leadership sets a bad example: it appears to be a complete show. |
| 5/23/2007 | student | The teachers there are amazing! I do not know one teacher at Hamilton that is not interesting or funny or nice. All my teachers at Hamilton have been great, and I am so glad I was privileged to have such great people and educators. |
| 4/6/2007 | parent | Hamilton is the best Middle school in CFISD. We are so excited at the arrival of the new principal, Ify Ogwumike. She already has the school moving in the right direction again. |
| 1/5/2007 | parent | This middle school is one of cyfair's outstanding schools. It has a nice balance of good teaching, an above-average sports program, and both excellent choir and band programs. The staff seems to enjoy working there. As a fellow educator, that says a lot! |
| 10/18/2006 | student | Great School One of the best Teachers are great! |
| 10/6/2006 | student | I'm a Seventh grader at Hamilton. I LOVE this school. Its amazing how much the teachers here help us. Not to mention how much fun everything is. I'm in Student Council, Band, Cross Country, Track, French and take Horizons classes. Everything balances out very well and the teachers know how to grab your attention. I don't agree with some other reviews and how we get 'preferential' treatment. Its not true. The teachers and principles are involved with everyone. I would recommend sending your kids here. Its amazing, and they would enjoy it very much. Over and out. GO LADY TIGERS! |
| 10/27/2005 | parent | Great, warm atmosphers. It's obvious the teachers here really care about our kids. Teachers use innovative and creative learning experiences to hook them into learning. |
| 9/28/2005 | parent | My child has attended Hamilton Middle School for the past 2 years in the Gifted and Talented Program. We have found the school to be both academically challenging and rewarding. The school offers students many opportunities to enter enrichment activities and encourages each child to pursue their interests. The only negative comment I have about the school is that the administrators run the campus like a bureauracy with little thought how to handle individual children or situations. Everything is by the book whether it makes sense or not and as a result of this an individual student may be treated unfairly. A little courage to make an independant decision by the administration would be a good thing. Instead they are often more interested in doing the expedient thing with the child getting lost in the red tape. |
| 9/26/2005 | former student | Great school. Admin is helpful and maintains high expectations. |
| 6/26/2005 | parent | Very good school. Principal and teachers are wonderful! New principal this year, though. |
| 10/14/2004 | parent | Hamilton is unique because its basically a TAKS prep course. Once the test is over, all gestures regarding extended effort to teach or catch up kids who aren't on-level fall on the wayside. The administration only shows genuine warmth to the over-achievers. Everyone else seems to be just humored or patronized. Volunteer parents are not really made to feel appreciated year-round. Unless volunteers fund decorating and food/reward items, the students would have a very bleak time there, just TAKS-TAKS-TAKS. The lucky few volunteers who seem to receive genuinely courteous treatment are the parents of students who fall under the over-achievers category. District rules are followed only if convinient/matters to someone with enough clout to have it enforced. The administration has perfected the art of giving the impression they are committed but unfortunately, in reality, they aren't. If you're active at Hamilton, like I am, you know the truth. Ironically, my step child fell under the over achiever category and is now at Cyfair but it didn't blind me to what I saw going on. I couldn't help but feel sorry for those kids who didn't quite measure up or some of their very dedicated parents. Overall TAKS performance is what matters. The school's district rating/ranking is the priority not the students themselves only what they know and if their ready for the test. |
| 5/11/2004 | parent | As a parent of a 6th grade boy I feel this school really cares about their students. They have helped me get my boy back on track. This is a wonderful school. |
| 3/21/2004 | student | This school is one of the worst schools I have ever attended. The principal will not acknowledge your exsistence unless you do something 'special.' Only the electives teachers are good at their job, and all the other teachers need to focus on teaching, not writing d-halls or talking on the phone during class. The overall learning experience is poor, because the teachers will only give worksheets. Foreign Languages, Music Programs, Technology Ed, Computer Courses, Home Ec, and AAS are very good courses with excellent teachers who teach you what you need to know. |
| 9/22/2003 | other | This school is great! |
| 9/1/2003 | other | I love this school it is the best! I really like french and band the best! P.S. I am a 7th grader at this school! |
