7/19/2011parentMy 2 kids love HTES - and so do my husband & I. My son started in Kinder and will be in 7th grade in the fall & my daughter started in PreK-3 and will be in 4th grade. National Honor Society, Student Council, Basketball, Baseball, new this year flag-football, that's just my son. My daughter is on the Cheer Squad and loves being a part of the team. The teachers, yes, ALL of the teachers are awesome and we wouldn't have our kids any place else. Besides academics, the kids are all doing their part in the community with service projects. Very GREAT school!
7/19/2011parentMy son started at HTES in Pre3K in 2010 and the first thing that struck me about the school was that the students would open doors and greet me when I dropped my son off. My wife and I have been continually impressed by the commitment and dedication of the staff. There is a good balance between academic excellence, physical activity and other life skills. The leadership at the school is outstanding. We want the best education for our kids that we can afford and HTES delivers. Highly recommended!
7/6/2011otherI'm a student at Holy Trinity, But i also DO know what im talking about. Holy Trinity is becoming a great school...i personally think it has a lot of work to do but thats only because the school is so young. To be honest i dont like most of the teachers...But thats just me. AT THE END OF THE DAY, And many people wold agree, You will get out of Holy Trinity what you are willing to put into it. If you go everyday and sit and do nothing, that is EXACTLY what you will get. The teachers dont push you, you are expected to push yourself. If you are a parent, and you put nothing into it, you wont get anything out either. Its one of those things where you make it what you want to. If you see bad reviews on here its because those people werent willing to get something out of our school. Its a great place to be and go to school. You can really get a lot out of it. As a student i really look forward to our school growing. I strongly suggest enrolling your kid here.
6/29/2011parentFantastic school! It has a very close-knit, community feel. We worked with this school with our business so when the time came to pick a school for our daughter it was an easy choice. Very professional and serious about educating and equipping your child for success. There are many places for you, as a parent, to serve which was important to me.
6/22/2011parentOur daughter just finished her first year at Holy Trinity Episcopal School. We have been so impressed with the school. Before her first day of Kindergarten our daughter can write a short paragraph with very little help from us. She is well on her way to reading independently - as she knows over 60 words by sight and is learning phonics to sound out the ones she doesn't know. In addition to her core academics, our daughter loves to show off her beginning Spanish and the dance moves she loved in her extracurricular class. Unlike many families at Holy Trinity, we aren't actively religious. Despite that we are very pleased with the spiritual component of the curriculum. We feel that the lessons help our daughter to become more socially conscious by learning compassion, kindness, and forgiveness. The staff at Holy Trinity has given our daughter so much more than we could have ever expected, and we are so proud to call Holy Trinity our school.
6/20/2011parentMy son has been at Holy Trinity for 5 years. As he prepares to enter the 6th grade, I am amazed at what he has accomplished and how advanced he is compared to other children that attend the local public schools. At Holy Trinity he is encouraged to be intellectual and excel in all areas. The teachers and head of school have cultivated an environment that fosters respect, learning and Christianity, which is refreshing when considering the negative peer pressure that unfortunately dominates many other educational facilities.
6/20/2011parentMy completed PK-4 this year and I have nothing but great things to say about the school and her teacher Ms Bryan. She has grown and learnt so much in the past year. She can count to 100 in ones, twos and tens. She is reading site words and simple readers. She has written reports on her favorite things to do with her dad and her favorite restuarant. She also does regular show and tell (which is a huge accomplishment for her, because she was so introverted when she joined the school). The Christian Principles and respect for others that she is taught daily are also helping mould her into a wonderful and compassionate human being
6/19/2011parentI thoroughly researched private schools before we chose HTES and I believe it to be on par with any private school in town. I have never had any teachers work so closely, and give such wonderful progress reports, as I have at Holy Trinity. Dr. Ellisor has such a command of how schools should be run, and she has picked an incredible faculty. The religious focus, Christ-centered without being overly dogmatic, is also a great fit.
6/18/2011parentAfter researching ALL of the private schools in Houston, HTES stood out in every way. Personalized care for my daughter, great academics, fantastic parent community. All that and at about 1/2 the price of comparable private schools. Our family couldn't be more pleased with the gem we have discovered in Holy Trinity!
6/18/2011parentExcellent teachers, strong principal, and challenging academic programs. My daughter loves her teacher and her school.
6/7/2011parentI love Holy Trinity and so do my kids! With an active 3rd and 4th grader it is wonderful to have a caring and supportive staff to work with. My kids are learning things above their grade level and are having fun while doing it! Thank you Holy Trinity!
5/28/2011parentMy daughter attended this school for 2 years and my son has been here for 5 years. The teachers have been outstanding and both my children have hugely benefitted from being in this school. Everyone knows each-other and it feels like a family and hence the likelyhood of children getting bad habits is minimal.
5/19/2011parentTerrible. Very bad experience with adminstration. No issues with the teachers, but the school is poorly run.
5/7/2011parentAnyone who has had their child in PreK4 knows that their child is getting an outstanding education. Mrs. B is the best thing in the school. The head of school gives a really good first impression with the school tour and presentation, but she is really a one trick pony, unable to deliver on anything of substance without a team of parents guiding and leading her. The school announced mid year that they were going to close down without much notice, an example of the extremely poor leadership at the top. The constant and unending fundraising is very draining both financially and emotionally. Although tuition is the most expensive of all the private schools in the area, parents are still expected to participate in the annual giving campaign. The family picnic turned into an hour long request for money while the kids were went outside to the playground. The grandparents day was also used as a solicitation for money, which came as a surprise to my parents who simply wanted to come visit their grandchild. I have nothing bad to say about the teachers or the support the parents provide the school, they are amazing. But I have serious reservations about the leadership.
4/21/2011parentMy child attends Holy Trinity Episcopal School and has been very happy there he is going into Kindergarten next year and I can tell you from experience that the PreK teachers at Holy Trinity are amazing! All teachers are degreed and certified. Several have graduate degrees. Several have published in academic journals. Our head of school has a Doctorate in Education. Our current student-teacher ratio in K-6 is about 14:1, PreK is 10:1 EVERY child (even PreK) goes to specialized classes in Spanish, Art, Drama, and Music with teachers dedicated to these subjects. Our students typically score 2 to 4 grade levels above national school norms. Holy Trinity creates an enriching learning environment with a foundation in mainstream Christian values. Each day starts with prayer and a devotion the perfect way to start a day. As you make the difficult and important decision about where to send your kids to school, please visit Holy Trinity for a private tour - your children deserve your consideration of this amazing school.
2/24/2010parentMy son is currently in the 7th grade at Holy Trinity. We have been there for 5 years now. You can not ask for a better learning enviroment for your children. The school is very well rounded...offering a strong academic program, electives, athletics, and daily chapel. Holy Trinity continues to grow and has recently started a high school program. The faculty is the best and truly cares about the education of the children. I could go on and on about all the positive things about the school...don't get me wrong there have been a few problems but they have always been handled promptly and professionally. Overall my son is receiving the best education available in a wonderful Christian enviroment and I couldn't ask for more. Check the school out for yourself at www.holytrinityeschool.org.
12/9/2008parentWe came to Holy Trinity in 2nd grade from a very trying public school situation and have never been happier. Our child is challenged on a daily basis and because of the great teaching staff is more than able to meet each challenge. The education along with the warm and welcoming Christian environment makes this a wonderful experience not just for the children, but the parents as well.
12/3/2008studentThis school rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has a great academic program and its brung us farther than we ever could at public schools
9/15/2008parentFrom first sight we fell in love with this school and watched as our child grew every day. During the time at HTES there were some changes in administration. There is definite catering to certain teachers who many parents are concerned with. To the point of removal of their child (ren) for that particular year and tuition is pricey. The schools facility is beautiful and making plans for the high school opening addition, many classes are in cottages during this phase but it is very nice. They have an awesome curriculum as well as daily chapel. They offer fine arts and Spanish starting in PK3. There are a number of school plays, competitions, events and fundraisers each year. And I have never seen such dedicated parent involvement. There is a family bond when you are at HTES that is undeniable. Check it out for yourself www.holytrinityeschool.org.
7/9/2008parentHTES is an outstanding school that offers quality education in a small class setting. The faculty there are so caring towards the students and provide high standard education. The parental involvement is wonderful and all the parents converse among each other. What I admire the most are the moral values that are taught and the head of school is a person kindness and concerness for the parents and students. HTES just does not provide a good education, but rightful moral teaching and that is something most public school does not offer.
5/27/2008parentAs the year closes at HTES I am so assured that my children have received the best education posssible. The teachers are of exceptional quality and the curriculum is rigorous and enriching for the kids. The service projects the kids put together are terrific. This school attends to all the needs of the child. My kids love going to school. The new director is fantastic and the school has added so many electives for the middle school kids during the school day and the afterschool programs are wonderful too...karate, golf, voice etc. You can not go wrong. It is a great that the kids there are learning and excelling and liking the process. The negative reviews seem so foreign to me. Check it out.
5/6/2008parentI could not hope for a better enviroment for my child. Greater teachers, staff and leadership, than what I could wish for.
3/6/2008parentHTES is an outstanding school. My children are challenged on a daily basis. I encourage you to stop by the school to meet the head of school as well as our fabulous teaching staff. I believe you will be incredibly impressed.
3/6/2008parentAs this school year comes to an end we are happy to say we will back next year. If the growth and new head of school doesn't change your mind just look at the students. Our students may not be on par with public schools and their TAKS test criteria but we are headed for great success and these students will be the leaders of tomorrow. With a new library, homecoming dances, and activities galore, we couldn't more thrilled to be here.
2/27/2008parentWe will last out this year and then will be moving our child to public - yes, public - school. While our child is considered quite a strong student at HTES, we have just had him tested and he is just on par with the Humble ISD district averages for Kingwood and Atascocita. While I love the teachers, we have to face that our child has not been well served in the areas of math, science, and Spanish. We didn't want to believe these results, but they speak for themselves.
8/13/2007parentWe are back at HTES for another year because of the quality of the instruction, and the acedemic opportunities. Our daughter was the poster child for school choice, and was not doing well in the public system. She and my son have blossomed at HTES. The school is located in a very rural environment with lots of room to grow. So many of our public schools are located on very busy streets and we are set back on Lockwood out in the country. We have new leadership this year, and we are excited about the new opportunities for HTES. If public school is not a good fit for your child, come out and see us at HTES.
8/10/2007parentOur son will in fact be back another year at HTES and we are so happy with the new Head of School and other staff members that have been added to help develop our school. We have a new playground going in, computer lab and many more things to further our childrens education in the future. Safety has never been an issue at this school. This is a great school and saved our childs academic life.
8/10/2007parentHTES and the former Head of School welcomed us with open arms, the curriculum is above and beyond local public and private schools and the activities offered are exceptional. I also know that HTES addresses all issues at hand and is a wonderful place to grow with your children.
7/3/2007parentWe elected to not re-enroll our child this year for a number of reasons. First on our list was school safety. The school is located in a horrible area of town and the schools safety program is nonexistent. The board is in over their heads. New development director has been hired and their job description includes managing the board to ensure they are accountable? I thought the employees of the school reported to the board not the other way around. The head of school has been replaced but her replacement is another related party. We were unwilling to risk the well being and education of our child for another year to see if this one turns out OK. Be very careful when considering this one!
5/9/2007parentRun don't walk away from Holy Trinity. On initial observation it appears to be a great school, but everything negative that has been said by other parents is 100% correct. What I don't feel that has been addressed is the foundation and direction of the school which is controlled by the Board. My experience with the Board of Holy Trinity is that we are just cattle being run thru. They absolutely do not care what the majority of parents want for the school. I truly believe that the direction and the means they are taking to accomplish their goals is questionable and detrimental to the school
4/16/2007parentOur child has been with HTES for 2 years. He has shown tremendous improvement in many areas, one being his reading skills. We are always provided with feedback from the teacher when we ask for information regarding his progress and the teachers have even provided extra help in areas that our child needs to improve on and has given us tips for home use. We also like that our child is able to be involved in the chaple, fine arts and spanish. We see that parents are more involved here in a private school setting vs a public school setting. Parents must be willing to help out to provide the education that they want their child to have and here at HTES that is what you get. Parents helping in any and all ways possible. We would recommend this school to others that are looking at HTES for thier children.
4/12/2007parentIf you are looking for a place with happy children eager to learn, outstanding teachers empowered to teach, and a Christian environment emphasizing service to others, then Holy Trinity is the place for your child. We have two children there and are thankful for the school's existence, the hard work of its founders and benefactors, and the commitment of the school community.
4/5/2007parentWe have been at HTES since year#2. I have had 3 children in the school ranging from PreK3 to Middle School. All the teachers are excellent and this is due to the commitment of the BOD to pay very competitive wages. I now have one child in public high school. He is #20 out of a class of 900. I attribute his success to his early foundation in the private environment where he was nurtured, encouraged and challenged not a number like in the public school. There was a decision to increase the class size this year due to growth from 16 to 20 while adding a teacher's aide. This is still a very good ratio. All children participate in Fine Arts, Spanish and Sports while public school you must make a choice. Leadership is aggressive and parents must be mavericks when starting a new school.
3/27/2007parentWe've been enrolled since day one. The school's 80 acre site is convenient and safe. Building permits are currently being processed for High School- just as promised. Teachers are fantastic, available, and caring. New head is replacing current next school year after working beside current for last 6 months. Transition has been smooth. Spanish, art, p.e. mandatory for all grades. Extras-volleyball, baseball, basketball, track.. This is a private school for college bound children and parents that want to provide the best education available.
3/26/2007parentOur children have attended five private schools in four states, and by far this is the best school. They have an accelerated program and our children have already skipped a grade. Their SAT scores prove their academic achievement--performing 2 to 4 grade levels above their grades. Music, Fine Arts, Spanish and Gym are an every day activity. Their service commitment to the community is outstanding. Children learn and want to give. Families are loving and caring of all the children. There is not one child in our children's classroom we wouldn't take into our home. Independence is fostered, humility is guaranteed, and love is present every day. Our children are happy at HTES, and have met many children from ten other Houston area private schools while participating in academic and sports competitions, and do not want to go any where else but HTES.
2/13/2007parentOur child enjoyed attending school here until this year. The first year was outstanding. This year however, has been anything but pleasant. There have been numerous disruptions throughout the year, directly related to a lack of discipline on the part of the school.
2/9/2007parentIt is with a heavy heart that we have not re-enrolled our son at HTES. The teaching staff is fantastic but that doesn't make up for poor administration, bad location, safety concerns, limited activities, poor planning, and extreme political infighting. What really got us to change, though, was a really hard look at the academics being offered. While HTES promotes itself as a 'college prepatory school' my son is no more advanced than kids his age in the public school nearest to me. Do not be fooled. Look hard at what's really being offered, not just the nice words and updated website.
1/15/2007parentWe elected to enroll our child here instead of in the local public school for the small class sizes and consistently high moral values which HTES was committed to providing. We were pleased with the results until this year. Mid year the administration decided to increase class sizes and requested the parents input. Input was provided which was contrary to the administrations and BOD's plans. Parents were told that they 'did not have a vote.' We will not be back! Serious concerns with school safety highted at the begining of the school year. These issues have not been addressed. Be Careful!
11/10/2006parentExceptional teachers and a creative, challenging curriculum with an emphasis on character and community service. The Fine Arts program is well developed and all the children (including Pre K)have Spanish class. The best that NE Houston has to offer. My kids are very happy - and best of all - challenged. Parent involvement is good and keeps getting better. The children are held to high expectations academically as well as behaviorally and as a parent I finally feel like I'm at a place where the expectations I set for my children are reinforced - instead of undone like they were at public school. This school has a very loving and nurturing environment that inspires the kids to achieve. If you're looking for a school in NE Houston, do yourself a favor and come visit HTES. I'm very glad I did.
10/19/2006parentThis is a quality program with exceptionally caring, dedicated, and effective teaching staff. All of the teachers (multiple grade levels, Art & Drama, Spanish) have given one-on-one attention to my child that have allowed tremendous growth and created a love of learning. Parents are more involved in classrooms, volunteering, and supporting the school than in any other school I've ever had a child attend. What is missing, however, is an opportunity for similar involvement by parents in the direction of the school. HTES is exceptional and the quality of education is excellent. What is lacking is similar qualities in the leadership of the school. The lack of financial and growth planning, unwillingness of Administration to create parent buy-in, and the politics may cause this school to ultimately fail. HTES is seeking a new head of school...look carefully at these issues before you place your child there.
10/18/2006parentSchool is very small. Financial resources are stretched. Quality of teachers is good, resources are poor, location is bad, school is located in questionable area and security is nonexistent. Strongly encourage readers to visit other private schools!
10/17/2006parentHoly Trinity is an odd sort of private school. They have been promising the parents a high school for two years now and we have not even seen the start of a capital campaign. The Head makes a very good initial impression but if you voice an opinion that is contrary to hers she is abrupt and rude. Due to her excessive pride she cannot or will not take the advice of or listen to the parents concerns regarding parent org. activities or policy decisions that the board asked for parents feedback on. Her mantra this year has been ,'Parents don't have a vote.' She has resigned as of this year and we can only hope and pray for someone better. That being said the teachers are what keep us at this school.
