| 7/11/2007 | parent | My child has been in Huffman ISD since he started kindergarten. He is being promoted to the seventh grade this school year (2007-08). He cannot write in cursive, print legibly, spell, punctuate, capitalize, write a book report, and I could go on and on. I am, therefore, removing him from this school district in order to have him brought up to where he should be academically. I have tried to work with his teachers, but have gotten little cooperation. If the teachers/administration think your child has ADD but you do not medicate him, the child tends to be placed 'on the back burner'. |
| 7/14/2006 | parent | Teachers in Huffman seem to really care about their students and their progress. They are not just here for the paycheck. Because we are a small town, you see the teachers and meet their families at the ballpark, football games, etc. Students love it when they see this close involvement. There are also many activities for the students to find an interest in. Anywhere from the Art Club, Spanish, to Band and FFA. We could always use more parent involement at school, home and the Booster Clubs. I am also in favor of more homework! |
| 6/7/2006 | parent | Some of the teachers don't seem very interested in student progress. Parents are not encouraged to visit this school. There is no PTO/PTA at this school. Communication between school and parents is very, very poor. |
| 6/3/2005 | teacher | I have been impressed with this school and their Fine Arts program. This district still maintains a small town atmosphere where students receive individual attention. |
| 3/4/2005 | parent | I have two children who have passed through Huffman Middle School and I like the fact that the teachers are involved with the children inside the classroom as well as outside the classroom. Huffman is a small community and many of its teachers have graduated from Huffman and have come back to their hometown and are involved with teaching as well as in the community. I graduated from Huffman and some of the teachers who teach here I attended school with and they have taught my children and it seems to help the kids want to excell more when they know that their teachers are involved with their parents. One of my two children have now graduated and the other one will graduate in a year. I think the teaching is wonderful. |
