8/31/2012parentLast year was the worst year ever !! the Principal needs to go !! I'm glad I moved my child !!
7/5/2012parentI must admit that I was nervous about my kids going to school here compared to other Woodlands schools in CISD. However, we wanted our kids to have more diversity in their school to match the real world and not the bubble of The Woodlands. After the first year, I can honestly say that our kids are getting a great education at Smith. State-wide budget cuts in education have given all schools a challenge. I appreciate how the administration at Smith and MISD handled the cuts. The students are definitely the Principal's priority. Every morning, either the principal or assistant principal greets each student after the morning assembly encouraging them to have a successful day of learning. I do wish that budgets allowed for more extracurricular activities since the area does not have the deep pockets that some neighboring areas may have.
7/3/2012parentI was concerned because this school is slightly outside of The Woodlands. Less than a mile but we've lived in The Woodlands for seven years and our children attended the highly acclaimed Buckalew elementary. We really wanted new and larger home so we bought in the new section of Sterling Ridge West which is zoned to Smith. To my surprise, my kids love this school and so do we! The staff really cares about our children and it's a wonderful nurturing environment. My children have excelled with their reading program and have both made honor roll for two years in a row. We now have a beautiful new home and a great school. I hear the middle school and high school are excellent as well. Probably why Magnolia and Montgomery County is one of the fastest growing areas in the US. - Woodlands Mom
5/29/2012parentVery disappointed. Burned out staff and lack of accountability. They want you to address every issue big or small immediatly with your child, however when an issue arrises concerning a teacher, the principal refuses to listen. Sarcasm among teachers when speaking to young children is not acceptable, especially with this age group. It is obvious the lack of funding and increase in politics has taken its toll there.
9/7/2008parentMy child is now in his fourth year at Ellisor Elementary. He is extremely happy and loves going to school. The GT program is very challenging and he is thriving with the help of our awesome teacher Mrs. Warner. The staff is actively involved in things that are going on and the PTO is top-notch. We love it!
6/24/2005parentLINDA Hoover, 1st grade teacher, is excellent! She really loves her kids. She is a conscientious instructor and disciplinarian. The kids who get her are fortunate and are certain to get a quality education. The schools as a whole is trying very hard to perform; however, it still falls short.
1/13/2005parentThis school has an awesome Principal and Assistant Principal and Counselor. This school has been very helpful and accomodating for children with special needs. They will bend over backwards to help your child. Our child loves this school!
4/27/2004parentI beleive the school is just getting by. It's unfortunate that there is no same page for the parents and the teachers and the administration. If the school were run more like a business instead of like government I truely beleive teaching would become a prioriety and not the exception to the rule. The teachers are nice, though. We as parents should expect more from our children and expect the school to be more demanding of them. In the real world you go to your job and do the best you can to obtain a paycheck, I beleive the school is not demanding but just getting by with the children.
8/17/2003parentI love this school. My oldest child began going to this school last year and he did great. I really love everything about this school and now I have two more children that will be going this year. I am so excited to see how much my children will learn. I really like that the teachers talk to me on my e-mail.
6/18/2003 My son was struggling with his reading and once he was enrolled in the reading rescue program provided by Smith his reading improved two grade levels in one semester. We were very pleased with the teachers that work so hard with struggling students!
