1/13/2012parentMy daughter went from a private Catholic school to Nimitz and she absolutely loves it! Loves the students and her teachers and wakes up every morning with a smile on her face. I am very happy with the education she is receiving. They have one of the best cafeterias in Odessa and the teachers are great. My daughter loves it and I love seeing her happy
5/6/2010studentBest school ever!(: I love Nimitz and wouldn't change a thing. Its better school i think. Great teachers (sometimes). Very strict. Which is a good thing (sometimes). I have so much fun in band. I just wish we did more group activities in the Pre-AP classes.... Just sayin.(:
8/1/2008parentI think this school has knowledgable teachers, TAKS scores are higher than average on some sublects but the classes are too crowded, school administration overly concerned about students following every single rule and not enough on individual students actually learning. My son was having problems in Math and I couldn't get his math assignments from the teacher because she said she didn't assign homework from a math book. They didn't use a math book at all. How are parents going to stay aware of homework assignments and help their kids. I feel helpless. I think this school needs to work on teachers staying in communication with the parents on their childrens daily progress and not just on open house. They need to come up with computer online access for parents to check on their childrens assignments like many other schools have in this state.
9/27/2006parentSchool has been going 6 weeks. Although it's too early to tell, I have some red flags. My student is in the GT program. I don't see in any class where incorrect work is corrected. This is the only way I feel it should be done, or else it will be missed again. I think the history teacher is doing an outstanding job of teaching and reinforcing the lessons. The others seem to be frenetic. I think the band director is very dedicated and wonderful. The tennis coach seems to be good. There was a huge turnout of parents at open house.
