| 7/15/2011 | parent | I had all my children go to Hawthorne. They have grown up to be wonderful students in high school and now in college. And one has now gotten her bachelors in communications. A good start was the foundation they needed to keep pursuing their education. |
| 9/19/2010 | parent | My Son has been at Hawthorne since pre-k and now in first grade. His three teachers have been Mr. Gaona, Mrs.Key and Mrs.Cortez. . They have all been great! |
| 3/23/2010 | student | this was a great school! i was sad to leave it! |
| 10/7/2009 | parent | 4 out of 5 is my opinion. I will say my child has been a student there for three years now, and I am very happy with Hawthorne. Of course there are some minor issues, but over all it is a great schoool. |
| 9/14/2009 | parent | I recently moved to San Antonio from Berkeley, CA. I chose to move to the Alamo Heights school district. Then I found Hawthorne. I am very happy with the school. The staff is great. The principal is amazing. I have really high hopes for my children. I want them to go to an ivy league college. If this is what you're looking for too. This is the school for you. |
| 2/5/2009 | parent | Hawthorne is a wonderful school. My ratings are high. Great Teachers and A wonderful Principal. I am a grandparent here and enjoy everything about this school. The involvement between staff and students, parents and even grandparents. Wow! I read someone thought it was to strict well maybe but considering the grades they have at Hawthorne we need some strictness. We have to remember that we are dealing with 3 year olds thru 14 year olds. That is quite a stretch. All in all I give Hawthorne Academy 5 stars. |
| 8/11/2008 | parent | staffs work very hard after the student to keep up theri scores. The envoronment is friendly but strict with their rules, which pleased me lot.my daughter was upset about leaving the school. |
| 7/26/2007 | parent | Although I lived in the Northeast ISD, I found this charter school and was attracted to their philosophy. My son was a young Kinder entering school at age 4. My hopes were extremely high for him. Our experience was awful. I will say that the Principal took action for me and switched him to Mrs. Keys class. She was amazing, and there was a big change in my son. |
| 5/2/2007 | parent | Excellent teaching at many grade levels. My daughter has been there since Kindergarten. One grade level though has a team of teachers that could benefit from refresher courses on how to treat children and how to communicate with parents effectively. Aside from this blight, my daughter has received an excellent education. The school has high standards both academically and socially. The one thing I wish could be provided would be Pre-AP courses with rigorous instruction in effective analytical writing. |
| 5/22/2006 | parent | Great school and outstanding staff. High percentage of parents are involved with teachers and staff. My daughter has been at Hawthorne since Kinder and currently passing to the 3rd grade. She loves it here! |
| 4/24/2006 | parent | Good teacher retention and a nice school but they really need to give the children more recreation. Even my kindergartner was stressed out and my other child could never be 'good' enough to get even one recess a week. |
| 12/3/2005 | parent | Great school! with a solid Core Knowledge Curriculum, outstanding staff. It has a model art education program recognized nationally. |
