| 3/6/2012 | parent | NORFOLK'S HIDDEN GEM!! You must tour this school to experience the difference. The staff are amazing!! My husband is military and we trying to stay in the area because we just simply cannot think about removing our daughter from this school. They are above and beyond in academics and teach the children how to be kind and respectful. I cannot say enough good things about the school and staff. All staff members truly care and love the children. You must see it for yourself! |
| 9/16/2011 | parent | My daughter started attending this year and it's great! We've moved around a lot and been in good schools and so-so schools for our older children so we can tell good from bad. This school has caring teachers and a challenging curriculum. They have an anti-bullying policy in place, lots of activities, and monthly field trips so the kids can experience learning outside of the classroom. What they plan on doing in K this year is more advanced that what my children had learned in 1st grade at other schools. I'm excited and can't wait to see all the progress that she makes by the end of the year. |
| 3/30/2011 | parent | My daughter loves it here. The teachers and staff are well qualified and caring. The other children are great and on the rare occasion when there is a problem it is handled quickly and caringly. I would recommend Trinity to any parent seeking a quality education in Norfolk |
| 8/23/2010 | parent | I would recommend this school to anyone who is considering a private school in Norfolk for their elementary age child. The student teacher ratio is very small, especially above kindergarten, and it is a sweet, old-fashioned school environment, with excellent academic standards. After paying for other private schools in Norfolk, this one is a best buy! |
| 6/7/2010 | parent | An educational gem in Norfolk, which has many private school options for the Prek-5th grade level. Trinity is well-run, organized, and produces bright, well-behaved and caring students. I could not be more pleased with the education provided as well as the level of commitment from the parents and administrators. A true gem. Outstanding education and experience, has been a huge blessing in our lives and the other families are wonderful. |
| 3/7/2010 | other | Principal, teachers and staff display a caring and nurturing environment for all students. The curriculum is challenging and is Christ-centered. All three of my children went through Trinity Lutheran School and were fully prepared for the demands of grades beyond what they had received at Trinity. As a grandmother, I am pleased to have had my grandson at TLC for the past four years. |
| 2/4/2010 | parent | Trinity has been my child's school now for 4 years and we LOVE them!! Each grade has been a different experience but has had a wonderful teacher. There are always welcoming faces on the staff and I know my son is being left in the hands of caring individual's. The new on-line system has really brought this school forward with technology and though they are a small operation they are well now and respected in the community. |
| 9/10/2009 | parent | My daughter has attended Trinity for two years. I have never met a more wonderful, caring staff in my life, and I have a background in education. I cannot praise Trinity enough. She is currently in the Prek4 class; her teacher who has taught at Trinity for more than 20 years. She attends German class, library, music, PE and computers. Additionally, she spends plenty of time playing, socializing, practicing writing and using scissors, all age-appropriate activities. Perhaps the greatest thing I find with Trinity is that the younger children are as involved in the school as the older kids. They have 'Play and Pray' pals who practice reading to them, they participate in the school-wide concerts and shows, and the families are all welcomed at the various family events throughout the year. It is a true family and has made our time here in Norfolk truly wonderful! |
| 11/3/2008 | parent | I have nothing but the best to say about Trinity. They are warm, caring and make learning fun. They are so involved with community events and are always doing things to help school families. It is nice to see in this day in age that tradition is still important to them. They are not behind in technology though. I am impressed with the new on-line grading/ communication tool the school has just introduced. I always know when assignments are due and what grade my son received is as soon as it is posted! |
| 8/27/2008 | parent | We sent our daughter to Trinity Lutheran for two years, after hearing mixed reviews about our local public school. While we had a pleasant enough experience at Trinity, had I to do it over, I would have skipped Trinity and sent her to our local public school. The school is small, nurturing and offers a safe environment for its students. Mrs. Hales (the first grade teacher) is one of the best in the area. That said, the administration can be unapproachable (although, in fairness, the only complaint I ever had to take to that level was addressed immediately), some of the teachers are a bit unfriendly, and behavioral problems never seem to get fully resolved. The school is ve religious-based, to the point that religion and academics are almost equally matched in importance and time spent teaching. The class sizes can become ridiculously small (four and five students per class in the upper grades) and the ryschool offers nothing in the way of extra-curricular activities. If you are interested in a private school environment, Trinity is an affordable alternative to other area private school options. |
| 12/28/2007 | parent | Trinity Lutheran School has been part of the Tidewater community for over 60 years and it shows. They have deep roots in their tradition, but that does not mean they are behind on their educational standards. With small class sizes each student definetly gets plenty of individual attention. This school has made it clear that they put kids first. |
| 12/6/2007 | parent | My daughter has attended Trinity for the past two years and our experience has been wonderful. The faculty and staff put their whole heart in to the school. I do not agree with the statement by the last parent. The adminstrator and her staff are some of the kindest people I have ever found, they made our family feel like part of theirs. I have always felt I could go to the Administration and have any concern be taken seriously and reviewed with thought. This school has expectations for parents to be apart of their childs education and to help support the teacher and staff decisions. It saddens me to hear such negative things be said about Trinity when I have never experienced any of this - only a child that has never complained and is always happy to go to school. |
| 5/21/2007 | parent | Things are not what they seem here. It does not do any good to speak up because the director doesn't care. The teachers make you think they care but it's just a job. I am not sending my child back there next year. Christian school? HA! It's nothing but clicks there. I know there is something better. |
| 2/21/2007 | parent | After seeing all of the problems other parents were having with the public school system, we knew we would invest in a private education for our children. We have attended Trinity for 3 years now and are overall happy with our experience. The parent involvement at this school is huge, with all sorts of family oriented events provided by the parent association. However, the administration should pay closer attention to problems that the parents are having and make a better effort to resolve them instead of just sweeping it under the rug. The parents would also benefit from more personal communication on how our children are progressing academically and behaviorally. |
| 9/1/2006 | parent | I wish they would read and write more in school, and have normal book reports. |
| 1/30/2004 | parent | This is a great school. My daughter has attended from prek3 to 5th grade. If you want a good Christian education for your child. This is the place. |
