| 11/1/2011 | parent | My kids both started at this school this year one in Kindergarten and the other in 2nd grade. They both love their teachers and my son is learning a lot. My daughter is learning as well but because Kindergarten is only 1/2 day she is not learning as much as my son did in his full day Kindergarten class. The office staff is very friendly and always willing to help me with any problems/concerns/ questions I may have. My only complaint is with the district some schools in the district have all day Kindergarten and the parents do not need to pay yet others; like this school the parents have to pay if they want their children to attend all day. I feel this sets unfair advantages for students attending the free all day Kindergarten within the SAME school district. |
| 3/21/2011 | parent | My daughter is in kindergarten and she loves it. We love her teacher. however the office staff is rude whenever i call for anything. At first I just thought they were having a bad day. After a year of calling and dealing with these people they are just uncaring or they hate their job. It seems as though helping me with anything is a waste of their time. I find it really discouraging and want to move my daughter. |
| 11/20/2009 | parent | I am very thankful both my children attend this school. The staff is very proactive and helpful. They communicate effectively with parents by sending monthly newsletters, and most teachers have developed a classroom website. I feel such a positive energy when I walk into the school. My kids have enjoyed all of their teachers. |
| 5/7/2009 | parent | So far so good, my son has been there for a couple years. My wife wants to put him in one of theses charter schools, but I am resistant.I feel continuity is more important than some artsy teaching style. He loves it there, and the facility is like new. |
| 7/7/2008 | student | I was a North Star huskie for only kindergarten. But I must say that this school had the friendliest staff you could ever ask for. Especially Mrs. Fries. The staff was very helpful the students. They definately helped you academically where you needed it the most. I was very sad when I had to move away. But overall this school was the best school any student could ask for. |
| 4/1/2008 | parent | We just recently moved to Oregon, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents worth on North Star. My daughter LOVED this school! She went for kindergarten and almost all of 1st grade, and was very sad to move. As a parent, I thought the staff was helpful and informative. We especially loved Mrs. Fries, who is one of the 1st grade teachers. She has the patience of a saint and is one fabulous teacher. I agree about the school needed a more diverse population, but what can the school itself really do if thats not an option in the community itself. All in all, I would highly recommend North Star for your kids...you won't be disappointed. Heather B. |
| 2/15/2006 | parent | Great staff, good communication, beautiful new building. |
| 1/10/2006 | parent | Although the school is very well kept. I find it has a lack of diversity in student population creating a barrier for learning. The school academics are adequate however, a hostile environment is created when you a have a dominant ethnic group with a lack of educated staff and students on multi-culturlism. I would like to see a more integrated school. I may be living in a pipe dream. Overall I give the school a B for academics and appearance as well as efficiency. I give the Cafateria Breakfast an F. The food selection has very little nutritional value. I know I have had breakfast with my child at school on numerous occasions and it was horrible. Understand that this is my opinion and only my opinion. |
