10/28/2012parentboth my kids go to fhs. the teachers are wonderful and the learning experience they have had at luther the middle school and now the hs does not compare to anywhere. being from the south and another midwest school fhs has such a high quality of education. with one child having 2 special ed classes her level of help all 11 years has been outstanding. i would like to see the communication be better with parent teacher relationship with some teachers but over all i wouldnt send my kids anywhere else. the arts and music department is top notch. what a blessing they are
9/14/2011parentI love Fort Schools! My kids have amazing, dedicated, talented and innovative teachers who go the extra mile. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of education they are getting. We're so happy we moved to this family-friendly town.
5/10/2011parentAs a life long resident of Fort Atkinson I do admit that in my younger years I did travel and kept residence in other states. But when the time came to raise a family I would not choose any other community. The staff at all of the schools prepare a curriculum second to none, all of my 3 children will graduate from Fort (as us locals fondly call it).
3/16/2011parentFort seeks to limit student and parental choices. Perhaps if the administration attempted to speak to parents instead of spending time on sites like this placating strangers, they would be better. It is incredible that the school seeks to blame the parents (in the post below) for the educational lapses; and scolding us to get behind our children when they eliminate or won't offer classes. The U.S. and Fort are behind other countries because they foster the remedial student and do not provide enough opportunities for achievement. This school is vindictive in its treatment of students / parents and fosters a bullying attitude - as sanctioned by example of the H.S. principal. My freshman watched the principal unexpectedly bully a student. I know of a person who will not take a sport he excels at because of the discrimination and bullying fostered in this school. He is fearful in the locker room. The administration pays lip service to their stance on bullying - as far as I know it is not actually enforced. I was bullied, I know what bullying and the atmosphere look like no matter what the school may state. In my estimation, this school does not serve in the best interest of children.
2/12/2011teacherAt Fort we offer students choices. I am proud to be a faculty member at Fort High. I have had the honor and priviledge of working with some dedicated professionals and some amazing young people. My only complaint would be the resistance encountered as we move towards a standards based system that will raise the bar for both students and teachers. Sometimes it's tough to realize it but if we do not raise the standards for education and, more importantly, if parents do not get behind that move, we will continue to fall behind the rest of the world. It's already happening but it's not too late to get back in the game. Let's work together to make sure that our kids have the best chance they can for a great future. THEY are the FUTURE; they are my inspiration and they are why I teach. Thank you for the honor of helping to build our community and nation, Fort Atkinson. I am proud to serve you and our community as we move forward into the information age. We can do this if we stick together and stay focused on students and thier best interests.
