Ellensburg, WA is a small city located in the heart of Central Washington, just east of the Cascade Mountains. While it may not be large, Ellensburg does provide several different transportation options to its residents as well as those visiting the area.
The city has two major bus services available: Kittitas County Transit and Central Washington University (CWU) Public Transportation. Kittitas County Transit offers regular scheduled routes Monday through Saturday throughout Ellensburg and outlying areas. This service is free to all riders and makes stops at shopping centers, parks, medical facilities, and many other places within the city limits. CWU also offers a public transportation service that runs buses from campus to downtown Ellensburg every Monday through Friday when school is in session.
In addition to bus services, there are several taxi companies that offer airport pick up and drop off for travelers as well as local trips across town. Bike lanes are becoming more common on main streets in Ellensburg with designated bike paths that stretch from one end of town to the other. There are also several car rental agencies located near hotels or airports for those who wish to have a more independent form of transportation while visiting the area.
