Pennsylvania State offers a variety of transportation options for its residents, visitors, and businesses. The public transportation system in the state includes the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) bus, train, and trolley systems; the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) light rail system; and several Amtrak trains. There are also an array of private bus companies offering service to various cities within the state.
The SEPTA system connects Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs with more than 130 stations located throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region. It includes buses, trackless trolleys, high-speed regional rail lines, rapid transit lines, and light rail lines. The PATCO line operates between Philadelphia and Camden County, New Jersey.
Amtrak offers service between Philadelphia and Harrisburg on the Keystone Corridor as well as service to Pittsburgh on the Pennsylvanian Train. Other Amtrak services from Pennsylvania include services to Washington D.C., New York City, Boston, Chicago and other destinations in the United States and Canada.
In addition to public transportation options there are other transportation options available in Pennsylvania such as taxi services operated by individual companies or ride sharing apps such as Uber or Lyft as well as car rental services offered by major companies like Enterprise or Hertz.
