Brockton, Massachusetts, is a city located in Plymouth County. It has a long history of civic engagement and political involvement. The city council is composed of 11 members representing their individual wards and serve as the legislative branch of the government. The current mayor is Robert Sullivan who was elected in 2018. Each year the residents of Brockton have the opportunity to vote in local elections for candidates running for various positions such as school committee members, city councillors, state representatives, and mayors. In 2019 there were several high profile races including a competitive mayoral election between Robert Sullivan and his challenger. In 2021, Brocktonians will go to the polls again to make their voices heard on a variety of issues from taxes and crime to education and infrastructure. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
