Ruidoso, New Mexico is a vibrant community located in Lincoln County. It is home to a diverse population of people, many of whom are invested in local politics. The mayor of Ruidoso is Lynn Crawford, who was elected to office in 2018. Additionally, the Town Council for Ruidoso consists of five at-large members who were elected by the community. The city government has put forth various initiatives that have improved infrastructure and quality of life for residents throughout the city. Some notable projects include an updated wastewater treatment plant, a revitalized downtown area, and new housing developments. Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).
