McAlester, OK is a small city located in Pittsburg County. It is home to a diverse population of around 18,000 people. McAlester is served by the McAlester City Council, which includes elected representatives from each of its five wards. The current mayor of the city is Mayor John Green, who has held office since 2013. The McAlester City Council is responsible for governing the day-to-day operations of the city and handling issues such as public safety, fiscal management, development and infrastructure, and transportation.
