Blythe - 2/12/2010
My husband and I lived in Blythe for 5 years...we left in 2003. We could only take 5 yrs. there. It is in southern CA...but don't be fooled....it is extremely rural...and isolated from the big cities of CA. Blythe is a 90+ mile drive to the nearest big city...in the Coachella Valley.
The hospial has no OB center, so women have to travel 90+ miles to deliver their baby.
The town has 1 grocery store...which takes advantage of the people...prices are sky high there. There is a K-Mart that the locals call the "mall" because it is the only big retail store in town.
The town leaders need to clean it up more also....many run-down homes with old cars parked in the front...trash piles...ect... Many empty stores on the main street...the town's only movie theater is in danger of closing down now.
The town also smells like insecticide the crop dusters always spray on the local farms....probably why so many people have cancer there.

Blythe is also a great place to escape from harsh winter climates during the cooler Read More

It serves a large population of illegal immigrants and indigents thereby further complicating it financial Read More
