Nice place to live. Expensive, like all of SoCal. - 10/18/2020
I've lived here for over 20 years. City hasn't changed much. Being in the SoCal area, there's plenty of stuff to do around here. Like with all of SoCal, population has continued to outpace new housing development. Unless you purchased a home when they were still reasonably priced (or during the recession), you'll find yourself spending a good chunk of your income on rent. If you plan on moving here (or to SoCal in general), I suggest you ensure you'll have a higher than middle-class income. Otherwise, you won't have much money left over after paying Read More

A Safe and Boring Town - 4/10/2017
So safe and boring that the police here rarely have anything better to do. At one time, I rented a room in another person's home and decided to put some aluminum foil shades on my window because my room was getting baked by the sun during the day. While I was at work, the police stopped by and made the owner take my shades down because it had the appearance that marijuana was being grown in the Read More

In Two Words . . . Almost Perfect - 6/6/2011
Garden Grove is right next to Anaheim (Disneyland), about 40 miles south of LA. Ten miles from the coast (as the crow flies), about a 20-30 minute drive to the beach, with traffic. But close enough to the coast to enjoy the constant clear, blue skies and temps usually in the 70's. I love living close to the beach and ocean, but for me, it is too busy here. I prefer living in less-populated areas. There is too much traffic, traffic, traffic. There is a lot to do from visiting Hollywood, LA, the many beach communities, San Diego and all the other activities a large metropolitan area has to offer, but you will have to deal with a lot of traffic. All of the major roadways, the 5, 101, the infamous 405 and everything in-between are overly conjested! Always a price to pay for Read More

I miss Garden Grove! - 10/28/2008
Hey I lived in Garden Grove for all my life, 36 years. But we couldnt afford to live there any more, the family business was failing, and i am sorry to say that it was changing for the worst, Its just not the same as it was in the 70's and 80's. My heart aches for the place of my childhood memories. So, we decided to make new memories for my children in a much better place than California. We moved to Austin, Texas! Read More

Used to be nice.......... - 7/11/2008
The area I used to live in,which was by Westminster Ave and Newhope, used to be very nice but when I happened to pass by there, it look like a garbage can. Litter everywhere, buildings in need of paint,no parking...etc. It's not what it used to be. Although most areas of Garden Grove are really beautiful still but in the area I used to live in...it's bad Read More

Quality of Life Sliding - 8/8/2006
I have live in Garden Grove for over 40 years so I feel I am more than qualified to comment on the quality of life here..It used to be the best place in So. Ca. to live..Open spaces, little traffic, great roads, nice neighborhoods, great neighbors.. This has drastically changed since the mid 70's. The influx of Asians and Hispanics has resulted in major overcrowding, road jams 24/7, housing prices out of sight, neighbors that want to continue with their style of living from the country they came from, will not adapt to American ways or abide by our laws. After meditating on the poor living conditions now in So. Ca., I have decided it is time to leave for a place that still have the old American values. Anyone who moves into this area will find that the quality of live here is poor..Housing and streets that were originally built to accomadate single family situations now has 4, 5 or more families living in one house, 5,6, 7 cars parked in the streets for each house also that is Read More
