Happy Resident - 12/20/2017
I have lived in Whittier for over 15 years.Whittier is a great place to live. The City Council has spent millions on street improvements especially on the entrances to the City. Prices of homes have skyrocketed which makes it great for property owners but difficult for potential new homeowners. Whittier has a great Police Department and a caring City Council. I couldn't think of a better place to live with the beautiful hills and great freeway access to Los Read More

St Gregory the Great School - 8/11/2012
I have been a parent at St Gregory for almost 5 years now, I am extremely pleased, the teachers have gone above and beyond to educate our children to the fullest to achive a higher education than public schools. I have compared the best graded public school in whittier to St Gregory and my outcome is St. Gregory is 2 grades levels above. My comparisons where done with my son in 3rd grade vs my nephew in 5th grade, they where both reading the same book at the same time my son would bring the book home to read 2 chapters a night and write a summary compared to my nephew in 5th grade would only read in class by taking turns reading one paragraph at a time per student. St gregory keeps our children learning and studying to the max preparing them for High School so when they are faced with 5 different classes our children can handle any heavy work load. A side from education St Gregory highly teaches our children Honesty and Respect its wonderful when you see your children surprise you on Read More

Pros and Cons - 9/18/2006
Things are great in Whittier as long as you stay way east.
Pros: Well kept older homes, quaint areas, hills are great for runners, mostly nice people, small town feel.

Cons: Cholos and their grafity (they even write on walls in the nicer neighborhoods), Police Department sucks and seems to have given up on some Whittier neigborhoods. Everyone I know has a horror story about the Whittier Police including myself.

Houses are mostly older so you have to deal with older house issues. I personally like older homes.

I love Whittier but it will probably all be gang ridden within 10 years. I have no faith in the police and the dirty politicians that run this city.
