School - 1/30/2021
My child attended LMSH from 6th grade through 8th grade.  During that time she was bullied so severely that it has caused severe trauma.  The bullying was psychological/emotional not physical, therefore we were told there isn't much that can be done or proven.  The bullying started with 1 or 2 girls and by the end of 8th grade the group grew to a significant amount of boys and girls.   The biggest problem, we weren't from Lyons. We were not a part of the Lyons multigenerational families, nor were we part of the new influx of wealth.  We also didn't live in Lyons, which made us outsiders. We also were not a part of the "running crowd", also a large factor.   There is massive favoritism among the school and the town.  The school is becoming elitist.  If you are an exceptional student that tests well, you get what you need and you are paraded as a shining example for LMSHS.  If you have blatant learning disabilities, you are able to get what you need from the school.  However, if you are Read More

The teachers at both schools (elem and HS) are very good. Although I am disappointed in the district and where they spend their money. Recently the school added more technology, which is great, but the types of technology (new speaker systems, WI-FI in every classroom) aren't necessary. What they should of done was hire another couple of teachers. Combining the 4th and 5th grades to save money was a poor use of funds. My son's kindergarten class this year has over 20, 5 year olds. At that age, that size of class is rediculous.  Read More

Lyons... great location, lousy community - 8/20/2010
I grew up in Lyons and then a year ago, moved back. It's pretty arrogant for a "one horse town". For as small as it is, navigating it is insane with it's crazy one way streets. Add summer traffic with folks heading up to Estes Park and stupidly planned bike races and you'd think you were in a big city with traffic jams. Speaking of traffic, it's well known as a speed trap area.
The people are Boulder rejects and think they are so refined and culturally superior with their art community. (Most of which have zero talent, but that doesn't stop them.) The music is usually good and the food is fine, but there is little left of what I liked growning up. I used to be proud of coming from Lyons, but that not anymore from what it's become.  Read More

Pretty sleepy bedroom town. Housing prices too high, and you have to drive 30 minutes to get to any real activity. Looking to Read More
