Great place to raise a family - 3/8/2013
Sheridan has a real charm, based at the foot of the Ruby Mountains, the views are breathtaking. The charm of the community is the small town mentality. Everyone knows each other, looks out for one another and waves. It's a quiet area, no traffic or crime. Great place to raise your children if you want the country way of life with limited cell service and minimum commute of 38 miles to access most things. Has a grocery store, summer swimming pool, gas station and a few restaurants. Very limited work with low-end pay. Winters are very long, can be dreary and very cold. Summers are ideal, with beautiful clear blue skies. Growing season is very short. Read More

Information - 3/21/2006
My mother's family had a home in Sheridan in the late 1800 Their home was next to the old hotel and bar. My great grandmother used to work there., Her picture was behind the bar for years. Her last name was Walker. The family home was next door and their name was Schnieder. Maybe her name was a Schnieder also. I know the lady, my great Aunt Was named Ellen Schnider and after she died they torn down the house and built a gas station there. This was years ago. I just wanted to know if the old hotel and bar was still there and if anyone still living in Sheridan is realated to Schnieder a Walker. I know in 1960 the town drunk was my uncle but no one talked much about him. I think he was a Walker also. Thank you for any information on this you can give me. Glen Read More
