Do not recommend. - 2/5/2020
I’ve lived here for almost 2 years now. This is by far the worst place I’ve ever lived. Nothing to do. ONE OB/GYN for the whole town. My skin & hair have never been so dry or unhealthy because of the water quality here. It’s just awful. Read More

Get out and explore! Clovis is close to a lot! - 4/28/2019
Clovis isn't going to win any beauty pageants, and driving along the highways you will see many old ugly buildings, and you will be driving through the poorest areas. If you are single you will struggle in Clovis if lazy, and not outgoing (not many places to go for big night life, and not many singles). If you are single you will need to make some effort to meet people. If not religious, don't rule religious activities and maybe you might learn some interesting history of religion. Go to church to meet people, join a club, new job, or volunteer. Clovis is great base for touring the WORLD CLASS museums, national parks, snow skiing, competitive HS sports, World class Star gazing outside the city(just look up as well in the city), World class sunsets, 300 plus days of sunshine, Casino's, archeology digs/museums, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands National park, 2 large lakes about 1 to 2 hours from Clovis, 1000's of day trips to visit New Mexico's finest places and Texas. Worst place I have ever lived - 12/24/2018
Literally the worst place I have EVER lived. Not only is there almost nothing to do, going out anywhere to do anything.. like grocery shopping, is just awful. I have never in my life encountered so many rude people everywhere I go. I can’t go out to eat, can’t shop, I can’t even take my dog to the park without encountering rude people who make me feel so unbearable welcome. There is NOTHING about this place that is worth mentioning I’m a favorable light. Read More

I'll tell you a story - 12/28/2017
A man was traveling by foot between two towns. On his way, he passed a fellow traveler bound for the town from which the man was walking.
"How do you find the town which you just left?" asked the traveler.
The man replied with his own question. "How did you find the town you just left?"
"It was awful!" the traveler exclaimed. "The people were mean and unfriendly, the town was dirty and low-rent, and I'll never go back!"
"So shall you find the town where you are headed," said the man, sadly.
The man walked on, and eventually, he passed another traveler headed to the same town. Again, he was asked, "How do you find the town which you just left?"
And again, the man replied, "How did you find the town you just left?"
The second traveler exclaimed, "It was wonderful! The people were welcoming and friendly, the town was small but nice, and I was remiss to have to leave it!"
"So shall you find the town where you are headed," said the Read More

This town is horrible! - 4/6/2015
Welcome to Clovis, NM (88101) where peaceful farming community meets sleepy border town. Don't be fooled by the propaganda; it’s all smoke and mirrors!
This town is horrible! Public utilities are overly expensive, and unreliable. Power fluctuations and winter outages are a familiar occurrence. Internet service often slows to a crawl. Medical care is appalling! Stated again for emphasis; medical care is appalling! One more time; medical care is appalling! Fearful, wise, and experienced residents routinely drive for hours to seek treatment elsewhere. Quality shopping and entertainment are a fantasy. Good luck finding a descent radio station that plays something other than Country music. Dining is a boring monotony of Mexican food. Housing is grossly overpriced, and poorly built; corners seem to be cut at every opportunity. Building codes are weak, and unconvincingly enforced. Businesses are unfairly opportunistic, and prey upon the population. Slums and slumlords Read More

Clovis, NM - 12/6/2011
I was born and raised here, since 1958. I'd like to say, that life is what you make of it. Yes, we are a small growing family oriented community. Diversity is alive and well in Clovis, NM.There are opportunities, but you have to go out and find them, nothing is handed to you. Then you appreciate that and life much more. Yes, there is crime, just like everywhere else. That can be changed if they want to change. ppl are friendly and will open their doors to you. Yes, we have lots of hypocrites, but who doesn't? Many restaurants and places to shop, not like a big city, but you can travel about an hour one way to Lubbock or Amarillo and another four hours the other way and be in Albuquerque. Schools and colleges and jobs. The cost of living.... well, that's a problem everywhere. We also have CAFB and that's a big plus with more new advanced businesses opening up many opportunities. Come visit, you may stay Read More

Hell - 11/14/2010
I have traveled the country and have visited many cities and states. I have never been in a place so bad in my life. The people are nice to your face, but if you are not from here they don't want you here and will never accept you. They are not social. They all talk about being christian but no one knows what that really means. You will not be welcomed by anyone in this hell hole no church no organization of any kind. The people here are slow to do anything if they got any slower they would be in a grave. The customer service is so bad they act like they are doing you a favor. You have to travel over a hundred miles to get a decent meal. The restaurants are horrible if a real health inspector went in to these places they would close them. The neighborhoods are dirty with broken cars in their yard and plenty of trash. You can clearly see there is no code enforcement. Dogs are running up and down the streets. Driving into the city it looks like a dump with run down buildings, trash, Read More

Clovis is horrible - 9/14/2010
People need to get real. Whoever likes Clovis needs to go out and look at the rest of the world. This horrible place is full of Meth addicts who like to hang out on play grounds while blowing smoke in their baby's face. Stay away if you can. The worst place I have ever been to.Many third world countries have cleaner living standards than people in Clovis, and the medical care is worse than I could have ever imagined. So, if you like Clovis, and you are one of these delusional people who claim that this rat hole is a great place to raise children, get some professional Read More

Clovis is an awful place all around - 7/9/2010
Clovis is the reason we should slap the New out of New Mexico and give it back. I am stationed here and not here by choice and would kill to leave here and so would all of the military and if they say otherwise then they are humping the cows and are now a clovinite. All of the judges to the Cops are corrupt to the core. I hope everyday that a tornado blows this crap hole Read More

Pass on Clovis if you have the choice!! - 4/23/2010
People say "Clovis isn't so bad." Well, let me be the honest voice here. I am not pleased with Clovis. We expected to like it - we had heard there was a moderate cost of living and that it was a great place for families. What we have found is quite the opposite. First, we paid $167,000 for a 1300 sq foot house - hardly what I would call "moderate" and especially considering how much more (better, newer, etc.) house we can get for that price in Lubbock, or San Antonio, or just about anywhere with more to offer than Clovis. Second, as for being great for families - we haven't seen that! We have a 6 year old and there are not many programs offered for his age. Where we used to live he had tons of options for sports and other events - here, it's limited at best.

Also, the "Clovites" (those who are "from" here) are LESS than welcoming to outsiders - good luck blending in at a church or any other group. If you're not from here, go to a big church where there are lots Read More
