My family and I were one of the five black families that lived in Cedarhurst on Willow Avenue in the forties and I attended PS#3. I remember that their where two theater one was named the playhouse because it had plays on the weekend. Cedarhurst had a parade most Holiday which were lead by Lawrence High School band ending at the park near the rail road station. The house that I was raised in (475) is no longer there and I often wonder what happen to the other Black Families.
