No place like home - 11/16/2012
I have had the ability to live and visit other places in the country. Texas, florida, arizona, california, ohio, new mexico. Out of a life of traveling my paternal family has always lived in forest grove. As a kid, I thought it was great to be able to walk around town and feel safe. As a teenager, I thought forest grove was boring, but still was safe walking the streets late at night. As an adult I see the greatness in this tiny town. The verry low violence crime rate, excellent resturaunts in close distance to home, featuring some verry paletable world cuisine. Theres middle eastern, thia, mexican and classic places like the 50s maltshop. For shopping, theres nothing high end, but theres the best goodwill ever. Its more like a community store. Everyone in town donates the things they dont use any more, so its far from a junk place. Its clean and organized with well taken care of items. I purchase designer and name brand labeled clothing there all the time as well as awesome home Read More

Forest Grove livability - 6/28/2007
Forest Grove is a nice little town. It offers a local farmers market, quaint downtown area, and several community events thru out the year. The elementary and High schools are testing higher that nearby Hillsboro or Beaverton schools. There is needed improvement in the Middle School/Junior High. On the westside of town housing offers a beautiful view of the coastal range. It is in need of more available shopping options. That will come in time with the explosion of higher end housing construction in the past few years. It's a short 15-20 minute drive from Read More

Unchecked growth - 12/29/2006
It appears that education suffers due to the actual ratio of students to teachers. Because the growth rate is not kept in check, this ratio will become worse (more students than the instructor can efficiently teach) in a very short amount of time. The city is having a very difficult time in keeping up with the un-checked growth as far as street maintenance, utilities (sewage, water, power), as well as education Read More
