Gold Hill, OR is a small city situated in the Rogue Valley of southern Oregon. Despite its small size, it has an abundance of activities and attractions to explore. The city is home to several wineries, craft breweries, and local restaurants that make it a great destination for visitors looking for a unique experience. Gold Hill is also known for its many historical sites and landmarks such as the historic Crater Rock Museum, which showcases archaeological artifacts from the region. Gold Hill--best climate for year-round boating - 2/21/2020
I first kayaked through Gold Hill 30 years ago and fell in love with the river there. I grew up in Bend, Oregon and the Deschutes river and loved the Deschutes but when I discovered the Rogue River with its beautiful water quality, incredible fishing, and mossy covered rocks, I was speechless. The Deschutes river has volcanic rock which can peel the skin off your knuckles while kayaking and damage your boats. The Rogue River is incredibly gentle for swimmers, kayakers, rafters, and fishermen while having the same difficulty challenge as Deschutes river excitement. I found the three-seasons of the Rogue Valley communities to be preferable to the Central Oregon climate. I spent so many days shoveling snow in Bend while a typical winter day in Gold Hill involves warming your beverage while watching the snow melt into the river. As a wine club member, you can enjoy free tastings, discounts on wine and merchandise, as well as, take guests to enjoy the wonderful wine.
