Not a good place to live - 12/3/2008
Lower Macungie is not a comfortable place to live unless you are very religious (born-again evangelical Christian), into hunting and have lived here all your life (Grandparents must have been born within a 5 mile radius of where you currently live).
It is not a friendly or welcoming area. The people here are very afraid of change or the unfamiliar.
We moved to the Ancient Oaks neighborhood 3 years ago, I have never met a more unfriendly, bitter and nasty group of people. None were welcoming, smiled or introduced themselves although they have allowed their dogs to defacate in our yard with no problem. We have tried to be friendly to everyone and introduced ourselves. Our next door neighbor grunted and ignored us. The only time he spoke to us in the 3 years has been to yell at us that he's lived here for 40 years and he didn't want a fence next to his property when I was gardening - not putting up a fence - well within my own yard.
