Dont get me wrong, I like Sunbury. However, lately crime seems to be a bit higher, and it is definitely an economically repressed area. A lot of the major factories have gone out of business. There is a bright side though. We have a major school district in the area. They just opened up a new shopping center across the river. The fishing is decent, and hunting isn't bad if you know where to Read More

Terrible place to live - 6/21/2006
This town is the worst, aside from looking like a decent place if you are passing through there is nothing else. There is nothing to do for recreation, for kids or adults. Well there is the river and the marina but the water is so crowded there is very little room to have any real fun. There are two grade schools that are beyond good, but the middle and high schools are not places I want to send my child. There are no jobs and minute chance of job growth, even those with education and degrees cannot find truly good jobs. The taxes are ridiculous for the rundown place that this is, the county commisioners a few years ago somehow "lost" a few million dollars and now the taxpayers have to make it up and not just homeowners, EVERYONE. There was no investigation and two of them simply resigned. I won't even speak on our president judge here, locals know how unfit he is to judge Read More

There's nothing here to offer, Run away as fast as - 12/16/2005
I have lived in this area since I was born 23 years ago. The economy is horrible, the unemployment is high, there isn't any job growth, businesses are closing left and right and there isn't anything to do. I have no idea what a Starbucks is, other than that its a coffee place. Red Lobster?- the closest one is like 30 miles away. We have finally come into the 21st century by getting an Applebee's restaurant in Lewisburg. The taxes here are tremendous, especially in Lewisburg. I know people that pay $5,000 a year for a $100,000 house. The only thing to do with your family is go to the swimming pool or play at a park. There aren't any fun centers and the malls are small and boring.
Wait until you see the weather! It's always too cold or too hot, there isn't a nice median. When it snows, it snows. When it rains, it pours. We don't get earthquakes, but we do get tornadoes and remnants of hurricaines.
This whole area is going under and does not provide a good future Read More
