Medium City - 2/11/2010
I live in a suburb of a large city. Oak Creek is a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it is the most southern suburb before going into Racine County. It use to be a nice small city now boasts over 40,000+ people. I know I'm low on the total number of people. The cost of living here isn't as bad as some areas but not as good as other areas. But we have people still working in our area. Our property taxes are a bit on the high side but we have great service for what we pay for. I've lived here all my life, but I'm ready for a change and my husband and I are going to be moving to Texas in around 27 months. BEFORE YOU VOTE......... I am stuck with a home I - 2/15/2009
Before you move to Oak Creek, Wisconsin do your homework. Check out the neighbors first...We have lived here 10 years and I hate it. The neighbors are snobs, they call the police if your dog barks more than 2 xs or if there are too many cars parked in front of your house. Or if your sum pump hose is too close to their lot line. Or if the kids are playing kick ball in the road and sometimes the kids can't because the neighbor parks his truck in front of his house instead of his driveway because he doesn't want the kids playing kick ball at the dead end. They call the police if I am burning my leaves...I HATE IT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
But as for the cost of living and the housing costs are out of control and the building of new homes, where is the tax money going????

Let us take for instance a farmer who pays $1000. per year in taxes on 100 acres of land. He then sells 100 acres of land to a developer.
The developer builds 400 homes and taxes per home is an average Read More

Property Tax Hell Hole - 8/21/2006
Wisconsin is brutal and oppresive to its residents with respect to property taxes. A $200k house can easily fetch a $5,000 per year property tax bill. That's over $400 down the drain just in taxes. The teacher's union runs this state and they can't get enough of your money in their pockets. How this state thinks that they'll attract business and residents is beyond Read More
