Show low best place in arizona to live - 11/26/2021
Moved to maricopa az from Oregon because we Retired last year. Looked at all places in az to buy property. Found a piece if paradise land in white mountains az for cheep and placed our travel trailer on it for most of the year to get out of hot heat for a few months a year. It's so green in Show low and the restaurants are the best. Can't wait to do improvements on our land this spring. We are so happy to live in Show Low where the outdoors is so beautiful and the people so kind. You could not find nicer neighbors. We are humble people who moved to Show Low after living in Hawaii for over thirty years. There is so much to see and do that we find ourselves exhausted by the end of the day. The restaurants are diverse and very good.

I have had a few properties in the show low area that I have bought and sold because they did not work for me. I've met some very nice and helpful people. I work out of state so my current property is rented. It's far cheaper than flagstaff and just about as pretty. There is more water and lakes than flagstaff. Jobs are scarce and pay is low but housing is cheaper. The influx of Phoenician and Tusonians is uncomfortable during the holidays winter and summer. I am contemplating a move from show low due to climate change and the increase in summer heat. I just don't know where to move to.

Love this place, Really friendy folks :-) - 9/15/2019
Moved here from Montana in November of 2015... stayed in my camper in one of the local RV parks , nice folks run it but it was Expensive.. Searched for a home and found one in what most Locals call the worst place in town. I have had NO Troubles at all.. Neighbors are OK Some are very good friends.. Yup its a bit trashy in spots, I call it Sleez Bag Acres, its Named " Silver Lake Estates" theres No silver, No Lakes and NO estates LOL.. but i got a nice place for cheep and i love it.. Had No troubles with Police as some have said, I drove around for 1.5 yrs here with Expired plates,, All the places i shop folks are VERY friendly , you need to have a positive attitude to come off well with peeps anywhere.. Im retired so i dont know the Job market.. But im very happy here when the Flat landers from Phoenix go home... they tripple the Population in summer and drive like fools... Still, its a very nice place to live and Never gets -40F

Stay away from the police they are the local gang In this town and do whatever they please. Sometimes when I get bored I’ll just go watch cars drive and their goes the cops speeding and cutting cars off to get to sonic. Not to mention their like street pirates looking for out of town people just to take their money and locals. That’s all they do is steal from the people and lie to get their way. There are no jobs, locals rude - 5/24/2017
Worst place I have lived to date! Impossible to take care of a family here due to high cost of living, high housing costs, and NO JOBS! Locals are everywhere. There are Medical jobs, but they too come with a crap work environment that treats employees poorly... if you can even get hired! Hate it here, white mountain HELL! Worst mistake I ever made. Move somewhere else. You will see if you move here, locals have priority, and you will never be accepted by them!

This may be in vain as the Show Low page isn't exactly jumpin---but I am a mother of three and am wanting to buy some land a few miles outside of Concho and start construction on a small home. I will start off saying, I was born here in 1975 and have returned throughout my life, for varying amounts of time. This review will be as up to date and honest as possible, as of 2013.
The crime rate here, is not nearly as bad as that in a larger city, but it does exist and it is mainly due to drug abuse. Murders have happened, but they are usually, drug or domestic related. Same as anywhere else. You have to ask yourself, who do you plan on hanging around?
The population is mixed, from a great deal of Caucasian, Native American, Hispanic & a growing Asian population and on the lower scale other races. Over the past ten years, things have been turning towards diversity.
The people can be friendly, but depending on "your" attitude when you arrive, they can be distant. In other words, do not move here and act like you are better than everyone else, because of wherever you hail from and how expensive your education was.
