Life in the Forest, with All of the Conveniences - 11/17/2021
We have lived in Payson for over 5 years and love it. It has two large grocery stores, a Walmart, Home Depot, a dozen thrift/ treasure shops, more local shops than we could ever exhaust. Payson is almost a mile-high so the mountains, trees, views, hikes, parks, and wildlife are all surrounding us. People are mostly friendly, population ~doubles on the summer weekends so we stay home then, but if you like to see more peeps they are out there.

The weather is perfect for us, Denver, CO temps with evergreens so it doesn't get the gray winters... Plus 90 minutes from our family in Phoenix. We eat 95% organic so we take the beautiful scenic highway to visit and shop in Phoenix once a week.

My husband worked in Tempe (Phx metro) for a couple of years with coworkers that drove across town in traffic for over an hour, he enjoyed his commute but they did Read More

For the rich - 1/20/2019
I've lived in Payson for three and a half years. And have never been in a city with such a high cost of living. A semi well to do neighborhood will run you 800$ or more. Even in the crummy parts I'm still paying 600. The only truly good thing about this place is the numerous hiking spots and many places to go shopping. If you have the money, move to Read More

Payson has bunches of good news for the economy, education and quality of life.

Payson - Great little town - 11/23/2010
Excellent government. Beautiful surroundings and the nicest people from all over the world make Payson a great place to live. Check out the art galleries and local artists. Hike the trails and fish the streams. Less than two hours from the heart of Phoenix, without the big city hassles. If you like small towns with hip people - throw in a few cowboys - then Payson is right for Read More

Beware the cost of an emergency room visit at Pays - 11/13/2010
I recently went to Payson Regional Medical Center for severe pain in my side. I thought I was having an appendicitis attack or gallstones. When I arrived I was brought into a room fairly quickly. Blood was taken, 1 tube. The nurse inserted an IV and then gave me a pain killer through the IV and also something for nauseau through the IV. That was it, 2 little IV pushes of meds. After 3 hours of laying there, I was brought into X-Ray to have a CT scan. 5 minutes later I was done. I lay there for another 2 hours before I found the results. Nothing serious and another hour later, after asking repeatedly for a nurse to come remove my IV hookup in my hand, that they incidently never rehooked back up to the IV after my CT scan, I was on my way home. I knew it would be expensive, but imagine my shock when I received a bill for over $10,000!!! Today I received an itemized copy showing 3 extra pain meds and over $3,500 each for 2 CT scans! I will have to pay this bill, but I just want Read More

Heat during summer - 7/12/2010
I beg to differ with the person who said there are many days over 100 in Payson. I have lived here for over 20 years. One summer- during the Dude Fire we had the heat from that fire contributing and we had 6 days over 100 in a row, but that is unusual. We usually only have a few days over 100 in the summer. Most days are in the 90s but afternoon monsoon clouds and rain often cool us off. We also often have breezes that make it feel a little cooler. Nothing like the valley. And many of us don't have Read More
