Tucson Really Sucks! - 2/10/2011
In 1992 I made the most grievous error of moving to Tucson. After living most of my life in New York City with a 7 year stint in Miami Florida, the move to Tucson was something I thought would be beneficial. Boy was I wrong.
It is impossible to plant ones roots and grow in this desert hell hole.
To begin with the people here are what really makes this place unlivable.
I have met some of the most unfriendly,so called human beings to ever exist, living in Tucson. The schools here are producing the next generation of Morons! The collective intelligence of the town shows an IQ of minus 10!
I come from New York City and I have heard it said that New Yorkers are rude.
Well let me tell you that here in Tucson you will find the rudest people on the planet! This town is still trying to preserve its place in history as the quintessential cowtown. All you have here are phony Redneck Cowboys with a huge sprinkling of Latinos. Since we are a border town Tucson

Planning to relocate - 10/1/2010
Hi Guys!!!
I am planning to relocate to Tucson for medical reasons. Personally, I have hesitated many times to do do because I live in New York City... so much around me... but I have lupus and it is only getting worse and I need to do it for my three year old daughter and myself. It may be a temporary thing to boost my health up...I plan to make the best of it... It is better because there is dry heat... I have stayed in Tucson before and it soothe me a bit and this time I want to make it a little longer...What do you guys think?

It's not the Hell people think it is - 9/15/2010
I've lived in many places. Grew up in Northern California. Lived in japan and Asia for several years. Lived in DC and Maryland. South Dakota and Texas. And Tucson, twice. This time it's for good (unless climate change forces and exodus).
Is it hot? Yes. There are two months (June and July) where the heat is seemingly unbearable. One just needs to be wise about how they schedule a day: up early, inside mid day, back outside at sunset.
Aside from those two months, the weather is beautiful, as is this desert. The Sonoran Desert is rich with life, both in plants and animals. It really is a nature lover's dream. It's not fair to compare it to a lush forest or an ocean shore. It's neither and never will be. But it has its own unique and diverse beauty. The mountains to the south and north provide a break from the desert. In fact, the view from many part of Tucson of those mountains is absolutely breathtaking. People who like to hike won't be

World Class Hiking - 9/4/2010
I've never been in better shape. Close proximity to a dozen ranges over 9,000 feet and clean air, sunny skies. If you're looking to get outside, Tucson is your place. Now, that being said, I did just get burglarized, and most people who are successful in this town invest in a house alarm or other means of protection. Border crime is here. Lovely place to live, but it might be coming to an end for me soon. Have

I'm a Tucson native. I've lived here, off and on, forever, and I was raised in the public school system. I currently work at the University.
You will love Tucson if you: hate paying taxes, are from New York or Chicago, think a 45 minute commute is nothing, don't have kids or have kids you can afford to homeschool or send private, want to own a big sprawling home in proximity to nothing, enjoy driving everywhere, love strip malls, don't want to get to know your neighbors, are an engineer and have shady ethics. If you are old boy's network, this town is for you!
You will hate this place if: you are middle class or poor, were raised here, have children who are being bullied in the public schools, you need to work for a living and not off a company that moved here for the 'low cost of labor', you like building missiles or working for the government, you are not a burlesque dancer, you think nepotism or favoritism is for losers from mafia neighborhoods, you

Think before you move here - 4/17/2010
Husband and I moved here in 2006 from the Midwest. Bought a house when prices were on the upswing. Now our house is worth $40,000 less than what we paid. Graffitti is everywhere-even in the better parts of town (we live on the NW side).
Although my co-workers and some neighbors are friendly, for the most part Tucson is not a friendly place.
Downtown has a worn look and you don't have to look far to find homeless and others who sleep at Presidio Park or on the main library grounds.
This is not the Tucson of my Snowbird grandparents, so I remember how nice Tucson was way back. Nothing stays the same and Tucson is no exception.
We will be moving back home sometime this summer as my husband was laid off 8 months ago and there is not much opportunity
