Re - Arizona sucks - 7/12/2006
Wow, I guess you really don't like Az. I'm glad that you have returned to New Yawk! I wish more of you from New York, New Jersey, MN, IL, in fact the whole Eastern seaboard would move back home but no such luck they are here to stay. I wonder why? I was born here and I am saddened to see the unprecidented growth, the crime rate, the bad schools, the traffic problems all do to the ultra fast growth. Why do you all keep coming here, driving up the housing costs? Gee I can't understand it. Could't be the nice people, the good weather, great scenery, and so much to do in the state with so many great places to see and visit. Want to ski, it's a few hours away, the Mexican beaches are a few hours drive, Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, wonderful mountain ranges all over the state, more boat owners here per capita than most places as there are many great lakes to indulge fisherman, and all water sports. What in the Sam Hell did you do while you were here? Good riddance. God Read More

Get out while you can! - 7/11/2006
According to FBI statistics, Tucson has the highest crime rate per capita in the country!!! However, it is never talked about in the press or by any of the cities politicos. There's an attitude of if you ignore it, it will go away. Yeah RIGHT! I am amazed at the matter-of-fact headlines in the newspaper about the daily murders or bodies found and of the drive-by shootings and drug raids. For a city of only 900,000 the crime is more like New York City in the 70s. There is no doubt that the vast majority of financial resources the city and county have are used for the TOP priority of indigent healthcare, school meals and bus transportation. Meanwhile, citizens are dying, being raped and robbed every 30 seconds, our road system is literally falling apart, but they keep saying "there's just no money" for more police or road construction. I couls go on for days, but I'll spare you. You get the drift. If you're thinking about moving to a dryer climate, try Saudi Arabia. At least there, Read More

Great Climate - 6/29/2006
Tucson is just a beautiful city. IT is nestled in 4 moutain ranges. Most days are clear with light winds. It is never as hot as Phoenix.Tucson does have a definite summer season which gets warm, but it is dry. We also have a winter which can be chilly-sweater weather, but rarely does it freeze.

Tucson is becomming like Calif. Lived in the Tucson "Bubble" for 3 Years, Then Mov - 6/10/2006
Tucson is a rapidly growing city in a beautiful desert environment. I'm glad I had the experience of living there. It is HOT from March through October. People move from one air-conditioned environment to another as quickly as possible during those months. Dashboards of cars are usually covered with carpeting to prevent sun damage. The coolest part of day is early morning. There is no dusk to speak of, since you're closer to the equator, and being from the Northeast I missed that time of day. The sun goes down, and it gets dark fast. Although we did have snow one day (it lasted for about two hours), it's mainly sunny with afternoon thunderstorms in July and August. Sunsets are usually gorgeous. Schools in Tucson range from horrific to outstanding... if you have money, move to a good school district like Catalina Foothills. My son had to repeat a year of school when we moved back east because Tucson standards weren't up to those of NY. There is some culture available, thanks largely to Read More

Lived here off and on 30 years & currently - 6/5/2006
Tucson is a beautiful city. It is growing way too fast and the roads have trouble keeping up but folks vote down any high speed hwys. That's okay, it's still better than any other city roads I have lived with. Unlike the poster who felt it was just dusty ranches and run down housing, I'll bet he didn't get too far off the interstate or south side. Multi million dollar houses all the way to master planned communities in tight neighborhoods exist. It is true there are very few black people here. Mostly all whites (anglo and hispanic combined). I don't think the city is racist at all, I think that it's just the way it is here. Only real prejudice is with illegal entrants and the resources they use up unpaid. Though life is so bad in Mexico they will risk death to come here. Like the Cubans in Miami when I lived there.
Tucson school disctrict is not the best, but I live outside city limits as a huge number do and we have an all excelling school district. So you can find it, Read More

Water? - 5/31/2006
Our community leaders continue to welcome tremendous growth in housing - but also complain that we are soon to be out of water, with no apparent plans to solve these issues. I guess the immediate gratification of revenue is more important that the long-term problems it may Read More
