Corning the olive capital of the world. One of the biggest trucker destinations on the West Coast.

Yet Chico & Red Bluff our two neighbors, have much better standard of living. It is a fine small town which struggles, and the recent opening of a local casino has sucked up a large amount of the local economy.

Corning in a nutshell - 7/31/2007
I grew up here and left for college, got married and came back. Corning has the small town feel where everyone knows eachother and neighbors are there to lend a hand. Although growing up I could not wait to leave I have come back to raise my family in a place and school system where they can be someone and find their niche. It has been a wonderful place to raise our three children and my husband loves it here also. Like any town it does have it's draw backs. It does not have a recreation department. This is begining to change. My husband and I have rallied ciitzens and pushed city officials to approve money for hiring a full time professional to provide activities for citizens of all ages. The good ole' boy mentality is still around but with all the growth and new people moving in that is fortunatley changing. People take a lot of pride in this Read More
