3 1/2 Stars - 10/2/2020

We have been living here for over 5 years. For the most part we like Livermore. It is a relatively clean city. The charming downtown is small, but it has many shops, eateries, and a theater. Occasionally, there's even live music outside. If it weren't for the downtown area, Livermore would be quite bland. It's generally a safe city. We haven't had any problems. However, there's been an uptick in police activity in and around our neighborhood(Springtown)since 2020. Traffic has increased, especially in the Springtown area. Livermore's climate is typically mild apart from the crazy hot summers. It is one of the Bay Area's hottest places in the summer. All in all, we think Livermore is a fairly good place to call Read More

Great City - 1/26/2020
Livermore, CA is a family-friendly gem located in the east bay of San Fransisco. Its culture and traditions give it it's unique qualities of the city yet it still has its country charm with the farms and award-winning vineyards. We relocated here and love how there is so much to do for our family. The parks are phenomenal and well maintained. There are so many places for children to have fun and enjoy to number a few, the lost world adventure, boomers, indoor cart racing, ice skating rink, DelVale state park, and Pleasure Island. There is a lot of events taking place downtown with great restaurants. And most important the school district is highly rated with so much to offer for my children. Read More

A great and unique place to live for families and - 2/12/2016
My wife and I have lived in Livermore for 21 years now, 11 years before retirement and 10 years since. Climate, costs, educational and entertainment opportunities, culture, and friendly people are all as good as anyone could reasonably ask.
The Ace Commuter Train Service to Silicon Valley, and the hourly Bart Rapid Transit Service to Oakland and San Francisco are the sensible ways to commute to big-city jobs and entertainment. For scientists and technical support professionals, the largest local employer is the Livermore National Laboratory, which is located here on the East Side of town. Nearby Pleasanton is home to a number of major medical equipment and software companies.
For retirees interested in continuing their own cultural endeavors, there are very active and vibrant community art and music associations. Churches of all denominations thrive here. Continuing education opportunities are provided through free lectures and concerts sponsored by the Read More

Parks are Beautiful, but it can get hot - 7/24/2011
I moved here three years ago and still have not found one friend. It is difficult to find friends in this city. If you are young and have children and grow with your children through sports and the school system, then you have a good chance making friends through them. If you work you can make friends through your job. As an older adult (55+) and you move here later in life, then so sorry - all the friends are taken. You can try church, but only once a month is about all you will see these so called friends for a dinner or an outing. Or maybe once a week while entering or leaving the church. If you like the solitude, then it might be ideal for you. It is hot during the summer months ( 90 +). I'm used to a cooler climate. Maybe in time I will adjust to this different way of life. People tend to have their lives all set and seem not to want to make anymore friends. I won't saw people aren't friendly. They are very friendly and will help you if you need help and the parks Read More

High Costs of Living Here - 7/20/2009
Livermore is a medium sized city near the Bay Area of California and has a lot of the smaller town charm; however, like everything in this area, the cost of living is very high. Everything from groceries to housing is more expensive than in other places I have lived. I'm hoping to leave here soon and find a less expensive place to live (I'm retired now) and also with more precipitation as I would like to see some green instead of California's brown barren hills and Read More

I have lived in Livermore, CA for 3 years and worked there for 17 years. It is a modern, family friendly city, and I cannot more highly recommend it.
