Former cowtown goes suburban - 8/11/2007
I grew up in Cerritos when it was still a dairy farming area and new housing tracts were starting to be built, back in the early 70s. I saw firsthand how the area had grown. For the most part, the growth was good, because in addition to all the new homes being built, there were also new shopping and dining areas to accommodate the new residents.

I no longer live in Cerritos, but in a neighboring city; however, I still go to Cerritos quite a bit. It has come a long way from being a cowtown. Cerritos is an outstanding place to raise a family. The city is very well maintained. The city makes sure that homes have well kept exteriors. The parks are great. The schools are outstanding. It is a safe place to live. There are not any ghetto places in Cerritos and the city does an outstanding job in making sure that there will never be. Most Cerrtios home owners are educated and have good paying jobs or own businesses (this actually makes a difference in the attitudes of the people you encounter.)I LOVE Read More

Cerritos is a very nice community, on the LA County / Orange County border. It was developed in the late 1960's -early 1970's. It has gone through it's own renewal, with a world class library-performing arts center-civic center. It has a clever tax base with a shopping mall, and the world's largest auto mall supporting good educational and park systems. In the last ten years, the ethnic mix has become more Asian. I have found it to be a well maintained community, with a wonderful openess to Read More
