Disgruntled parent - 9/2/2011
Just because you didn't enjoy your experience you shouldn't slander an entire school based on your experience. Took my kids out of private school, to enroll them in an environment that works very hard to educate the whole child. Don't let a review by a disgruntled parent skew your view of such a great public elementary school. You can see by the rest of the reviews what a great school this is!! Great principal, great teachers, and great involved Read More

Culver City, a great place in the LA Area - 9/2/2008
I have lived in Culver City for approximately 4 years now, and I must say it is a great place to live. There is so much to do, with tons of great restaurants, theater, parks, and great schools. We are really happy to be living in CC. The only challenge that we have found is that there is very little affordable housing, the median home price is in the Read More

Cute city, price as usual - 8/28/2008
We're living in the Helms Bakery area of Culver City. Planning to return to Oregon because we miss trees and rain. Here are the things I've gathered from my apartment living near La Cienega:
-Downtown Culver City is bustling and fun. A very cute area with new shops all the time. I love being so close to Trader Joe's, too.
-We have had a number of insect problems: roaches, termites (?), ants, silverfish, mosquitoes, flies, spiders... Finally seems to have settled down a bit
-We seem to be very close to wealth and low income crime at the same time.
-Almost no homeless out this way.
-Great bus takes you straight to downtown during rush hour, and back at night.
-Very cool compared to some of the valleys. We manage to get the sea air, just not as much as Santa Monica or Marina Del Rey.
-Many very nice parks; we have one within walking distance that we love
-Somewhat bike friendly: bike lane on Venice, bike path along the Ballona Creek Read More

Great for the right family - 2/20/2008
I've lived in Los Angeles for about 10 years and grew up in Minnesota. Currently we have two small children and my husband and I are looking for that illustrious "quality of life" thing. Culver City has great public schools as they are not a part of LA Unified School District. The rent is high and buying a livable 2-3 bedroom house is going to cost at least $700,000. Culver City has some small town charm ("The Wonder Years" t.v. show was filmed here) in the midst of the big city. They have a great community center, an annual carnival, a city-wide emergency preparedness day, Santa and the elves drive around on a "sleigh" the days leading up to Christmas etc... It's very culturally diverse and the studios have their roots here. The problem we are facing is that it is so expensive. We don't have family support. The air quality and traffic makes you not want to leave your house. Two of the biggest freeways (10, 405) converge here and save the main drag of downtown Culver City it's not the Read More

Snowfall in Culver City? - 3/20/2007
The Sperling report on Culver City's climate claims an average snowfall of 8"--where did they get their information? It doesn't snow here.

We did have a freeze this year (the fountain in my backyard formed about a half an inch of surface ice)--Southern Cal has a freeze every decade or so. I have lived on the west side of LA my entire life and believe me, we don't get 8" of snow per year--not in the basin.

Culver City is a great place to live.
