FOLSOM WEATHER - 8/5/2015
Folsom has the worst air quality of any city in the Sacramento region per Sac Metro Air Quality Management. Do not move there if u have any respiratory issues, or u like to breath relatively clean Read More

Folsom is a great town - 7/20/2013
Folsom is a great little town of about 70,000 people. A half hour from Sacramento, an hour and a half from Tahoe, it sits in a good location at about 320 feet altitude. It has grown immensely in the 14 years I've lived here: several shopping centers, light rail, new theaters (movie and stage) among other things. The climate is easily bearable except for some occasional heat waves which can be brutal at over 100. Boating, swimming in the nearby Folsom lake ~ Many trails ~ Good school system ~ Low crime ~ All in all, Folsom is a great place ~  Read More

Air quality is poor, unfortunately - 5/31/2012
I think Folsom is ideal in many ways but it shares Sacramento's lousy air quality (1.5 out of 100 per this site). Sometimes it's worse than Sacramento when a smog inversion layer sits at Folsom's higher elevation and/or bad air gets blown eastward, backing up against the hills. This is a big consideration if you're into exercise, especially outdoors. I noticed a difference in lung capacity after moving away from that whole area to the Bay Area. The worst air also tends to coincide with oppressive Read More

Thinking of Moving - 7/3/2011
I am thinking of moving from Corvallis, OR to Folsom, CA. I would appreciate some advice. The main categories I am evaluating are the Economy (I just graduated from OSU with a BS degree in accounting), People (are they friendly, educated, conservative/liberal, age range?), Weather (I kindof know this one already...) and the landscape (I kind of know this one already also...).
Thanks for the advice! Read More

Best Little City on Earth - 8/18/2009
Ok, so I am being a little bias. I have lived and worked in Folsom for the last 9 years and can find absoutly nothing to complain about. Folsom is close to everything, downtown Sacramento is 20 minutes West, South Lake Tahoe is about an hour drive East. Employment, recereational activities, shopping, community services.... everything you can ever need is right here. Read More

housing - 4/21/2009
Housing in California has always been high. With lots of government spending our state will have to raise taxes. Can this area hold the prices it once commanded? We doubt it; so with that in mind we are looking to relocate out of this state for our retirement years.

California will remain a wonderful place to live. However, if you didn't save a lot of money during your working years you are out of luck retiring Read More

Great Community - 10/28/2008
I have lived in Folsom for 20+ years and can tell you it is extremely well rounded with major employers, shopping, recreation, good schools, art/culture, historic district and more. Location is exceptional in that you are just over an hour away from Lake Tahoe or Reno, and in the opposite direction 1.5 hours to Napa Valley or San Francisco. It can get hot in the summer (95) and winters are very mild. The only down side is that housing can be a little more costly than most of the surrounding suburbs. Overall a great place to Read More

It's too expensive - 3/18/2008
I like the atmosphere in Folsom, the city is nice and there are plenty of good places to eat and shop, but the entire Northern CA area around Sacramento is just too expensive. Housing prices, gas prices, you name it. It all costs too much. I am hoping to be out of N. CA by the end of 2009. If money is not an issue and you like living and working in a community of people who are on the whole materialistic and selfish, where life is a competition and a race to see how much you can acquire, then N. CA would be a good choice for Read More
